It is a good question.

"Real Time" host Bill Maher closed his show Friday night by suggesting it's worth pondering why Russian President Vladimir Putin took action in Ukraine during the Biden presidency instead of the Trump presidency.

Maher spent much of his monologue hitting partisans on both sides of the aisle for using the Russia-Ukraine war to prove "everything we already believed and everything goes back to what we already hate," citing Republicans blaming President Biden for the ongoing war and Democrats blaming former President Trump.

It is a good question.

It's not worth asking since it's obvious. Putin took advantage of Obama too.

The best answer is that Biden allowed the situation to be created in which Russia's security was challenged.

It's not certain but it's very likely that Trump wouldn't have challenged Russia nearly as soon.

However, the challenge to Russia from America was coming sooner or later. There would have been too much pressure on Trump by the Pentagon, for Trump to hold off indefinitely.

Maybe one day we will get a peek inside his "reasoning" but chances are his timing has more to do with his own vainglorious delusions of Russian invincibility and his rapidly approaching death than anything to do with the US. In any case it seems he fucked up.

Putin is a late stage dictator. He believed his own bullshit long enough that he lost touch with reality. Having a dictator that has no belief in objective reality is not something to aspire to, no matter what the GOP pundits tell you.
Everything you spewed, is backed up by absolutely fucking nothing, not a jot of evidence exists to support such a ludicrous belief/conclusion! Such opinion is product of naked war mongering/engineering of western propaganda mills, all masquerading as news/info sites! Putin, is perhaps many things, lost from the real world not even close to one of them...

Putin's perspective, which is entirely obfuscated away by north American propaganda, is likely that he did not start this war at all, Obama/Biden did when they deliberately overthrew lawfully elected president favorable to Russia in 2013/14! Was it evil of Russia to want a pro-Russian president in Ukraine as one democrat administration after the next broke their promises to NOT expand Nato in wake of German reunification?

I wonder, how you would feel if by chance Canada elected a nakedly pro-Chinese prime minister, who then courted them to establish a permanent military presence on their soil, replete with ballistic missiles pointing directly at the United States, and then Mexico immediately followed suit??? Nothing you see is as it appears, nothing!

Putin’s reasoning is obvious; he’s a Soviet trying to rebuild the USSR within the global capitalist system. Then he can screw the US like China does. Easier for him now because he not only doesn’t have trump as an impediment but he has the Biden cabal as an aid.

Putin thought he would be greeted as a liberator in Ukraine. He is a lunatic. I'm sorry you're not going to be able to buy anything anymore now that the Ruble is dead. Maybe stop supporting fascists and lunatics from now on.

There are a lot of theories going around but Putin being scared of Trump is baseless. There is nothing you can point to that suggests Trump could have or would have brought the world together to oppose Russia. More likely he would have abandoned NATO.

Biden laid out the red carpet (no pun intended) for Putin to invade Ukraine.
Biden probably didn't know how bad it would get....probably figured Ukraine would just give up like Afghanistan did.

I think the White House is trying to cover up their bio-labs programs in Ukraine....and they're taking advantage of the oil market this war is causing. Most of the oil price increases have more to do with the inaction of the Biden Adm rather than any shortages.....because the war hasn't caused any shortages. Biden's disastrous monetary and energy policies are doing most of that.

Considering the fact that Russia can't beat the Ukrainian Army in a straight up fight....I think Putin had plenty to worry about with Trump. Russia has been hyped like Ryan Leaf. He'll fold or become desperate the minute someone else jumps into this war. And this is the primary reason Biden refuses to allow Ukraine to get a bunch of MIGs because it will completely turn the tide of the war against his Buddy Putin.

If that were the case, why the hell didn't Putin take Ukraine during Trump? He would have taken the Ukraine unopposed, as he is with Brandon, and split NATO to boot.

What did he have to worry about from Trump? Are you saying he got tired of Trump kissing his butt.
