Bill Maher Goes Off On Neil deGrasse Tyson

Too bad the Trump suppprters didn't watch the entire show, this was not the only time this came up, one of his guests was Donna Brazille, former chair of the DNC, and she would not refute the article either. Maher and her (as well as Tyson) are all friends and both of them made Maher quite agitated, and for good reason. The absolute absurdity of their stand on biology is why Democrats lost to someone as odious as Trump.

There is a fear amongst top Democrats to appear critical of the trans community.

Neil deGrasse Tyson illustrates what is wrong with the left.

They just aren't real. They've been brainwashed into believing something that just isn't rational, and you cannot get them to change their minds.

He knows exactly what he's doing, he's not brainwashed. He just consciously refuses to go against the leftist orthodoxy.

He's actually worse than the brain dead robots, because he's smart enough to know ******* better.

I remember when I tested to go into the military I got a score that I was told was pretty good, but a guy who took the test with me, who scored 95% on the ASVAB, was not only gullible but outright dumb when it came to common-sense. He should have gone into the Airforce but instead chose to go into the Marines. He was close to being Autistic because of his ability to focus on details but missing the big-picture.

In D&D terms it's called "High Intelligence, Low Wisdom"

We expect that from people like Brazille, we have higher hopes for people like Tyson.

I've long been a fan of Maher, and am delighted to see the Trump wing has fully embarced him as well.

Just ignore all that other stuff he said about your Dear Leader.

I'm not a fan of most of his positions, he's still a lefty, but he's not a silencer, or a government force advocate. I don't have to agree with people like that to be able to work with them.

The saddest part of that is that Tyson has a huge amount of intelligence to overwhelm....
Maybe. I haven't seen anything earth shattering come from him.

I know. His explanation of space phenomena is always so entertaining and educational to watch and listen to. It Proves that even if someone has high education credentials, they can be a complete moron.

Leftists seem to sprint for the credentials to try to shield themselves from scrutiny, and demand bowing to “experts”.

This is why that’s a really bad practice
It's called an "Appeal to Authority ".

And is a logic fail.

While agreeing with Maher on this subject, it doesn't appear to me that Tyson is defending the article. He points out that the person is no longer employed at the magazine and this demonstrates a rejection of the point of view the person expressed. Maher is at him to state something in the way Maher wants and Tyson has a reflex not to be thus manipulated.
The so-called left has certainly chosen many ridiculous causes to embarrass itself with, and the same could be said of the so-called right. This should show us that being all right or all left all the time is all wrong.
Tyson tap-danced… refused to oppose the notion that men are better than women in sports due to how they are treated, not biology.

It’s as ridiculous of a scientific claim as flat earth theory. Tyson ought to have laughed at both claims.. but he made excuses for and pivoted around one

Maybe. I haven't seen anything earth shattering come from him.
Even if he’s not the one who makes the discovery, he’s really good at explaining complex scientific concepts to laypeople.

That is, unless it broaches on woke ideology.. then, he’s fully ready to be completely obtuse to defend his politics

He has always been a smug douchebag.
He loves it when he's the smartest guy in the room, but when he is challenged, by someone who is as smart, or smarter, he gets pissed off real easy, and will leave the room fairly quickly.

He has a very fragile ego. He doesn't handle challenges well at all.

Brazile is a political hack. Not a scientist.

Or maybe they hired someone who isn't a screaming transphobe like you are.

People on your side believe in talking snakes, I don't think you have much room to talk.
Is it your contention that the only reason there is a difference between male and female athlete performance is societal influence as the article in Scientific American Maher is quoting contends? That there is anything even remotely scientific about that statement?

Yea, from someone who is a major part of the scientific community, this is an easy one, you'll notice Tyson took great pains to avoid answering it, I don't blame him personally as much as the atmosphere (and consequences) surrounding someone stating an obvious truth about biology.

I did have a feminist make that very argument to me back in the 1980's.

I personally didn't take it terribly seriously then.

Nothing to do with my point.

Look, I get it, Maher is a smug asshole looking to blame anyone but himself for Harris' loss, even though he switched back and forth between defeatism and cheering. The guy has no ethical standards or beliefs, he pals around with Ann Coulter, and you wonder why liberals don't take him seriously.

Progressive SJW twats, not liberals.

You are no liberal.

You're blaming Bill Maher for Harris losing?
