Pricing isn't opaque as some sort of plot. Countless factors go into determining the costs for a surgery so it could never be a "know before you go" endeavor and still make sense in our capitalist system. Anyone with a 1st grade understanding of modern medicine would tell you that. Your problem is that you're brainwashed into thinking your blob is some sort of deity.

My insurance company knew the cost of my transplant surgery before it every happened because they did not have a contracted price with Vanderbilt and required me to have my surgery at UK. Very few people could afford to pay out of pocket so in the end why publish the price to the public? Hint: my total medical bills for 5 years 2020-2024 were almost $3 million. I am now known as the 3 million dollar man!
