The Democrats running are running largely unapposed. This is a contested Republican primary and the surge in early voting is being driven by Republican voters. Also Republicans are not trying to stop black people from being able to vote at all, they don't have the ability to do so politically, they're just trying to make it that much harder that they pick off enough at the margins to squeek by a win. Unfortunately for them they have to deal with people like Stacy Abrams who work tirelessly to mobilize black voters. It's not a strategy that will work in the long. The Republicans are an aging demographic. Every year that margin they have to eek out becomes wider and wider. It's triage at this point.
