This drop in the bucket release\sale is gasoline. Gasoline has a short shelf life and the reserves are small and they're rotated regularly. We use over 9 million barrels a day in gasoline.

The SPR is being refilled at a lower price than it was sold.

Biden is going full panic mode as his poll numbers are crashing. There's real desperation as Biden has upped his vote buying strategy. Dumping student debt on the public will be accompanied by dumping more of the strategic petroleum reserves.

Biden's vote buying strategy to again rape the reserve means that the US is more vulnerable and ultimately, $Billions of dollars will eventually be needed to restore the reserves Biden is using as a campaign finance reserve.

The Biden Administration has announced that it will sell 1 million barrels of gasoline that was being held in case of emergencies, in an effort “to keep gas prices low” over the summer, a spokesperson claimed.

More micromanaging the economy in ways that will help very little if at all but puts the U.S. at higher risk if there is a disruption in the oil supply when we NEED that oil for national emergencies which is what it is for.

When Biden released 50 million barrels of SPR oil in November 2021 it did temporarily, but only temporarily, reduce the cost of gasoline by a few cents. But we were already short on oil then as we had not yet recovered from the 2020 shutdowns. Now that production is higher it isn't an oil shortage but a shortage in refining capacity that is the problem and Biden policies have exacerbated that. Refineries have closed at a record pace since he took office and no refineries have expanded or plan to expand refining capacity due to his intentions of eliminating fossil fuels. There is no incentive to make that kind of massive investment most especially when government regulations make it so expensive to do.

As for that 1 million barrels of SPR oil? Insignificant. U.S. refineries process 17+ million barrels of oil every day. So it is pure theater. Political propaganda that unfortunately the left will applaud as noble and appropriate.

None of the oil Biden has depleted so far has been replaced. Trump replenished most of the deficit in the SPR after Obama had depleted a lot of it during his term of office.
