These economic geniuses don't understand the cost of living factor. 30k/yr is rural Miss. is not the same as 30k in NYC or LA. The patrons of these businesses in rural Miss. will not be able to afford the hike in prices.

Worth noting that in deep red Arkansas, voters passed a increase in the state minimum wage to $10 a hour with over 60% of the vote. How about having some sympathy for workers.

If a state wants to increase their own minimum wage, that's fine, it's on them. But there should be no national minimum wage at all. When a state with high minimum wage loses businesses, they lose them to states like mine. However when there are no states to move to because everybody has to have a 15.00 minimum wage, the only place they can move is out of the country taking their jobs with them, and that's what you're going to see happen.

Okay, but what about companies that pay over $15.00 an hour now? Their employees will demand higher pay. You don't work at a company for five years, work your way up to $15.00 an hour, then the Communists bring you back to minimum wage. You are going to demand at least five or six dollars over MW to stay with that company, and this creates a domino effect which again, will chase more jobs out of the country.

Bottom line that you leftists don't get is that when you dramatically increase wages coast to coast, inflation and the cost of living also dramatically increases. That means people who are working MW now will find themselves in the exact same boat in a couple of years because all that new money will go towards the much higher costs of things they always had. They gain nothing and may even lose in the end.

Mail-in voting means that real people voted and they voted heavily against Trump. Biden has the largest number of votes in history.

I highly doubt the Dem will get 10 Repubs to cross over and support that, and so the pressure will build to abolish the filibuster fairly quickly. Plus, I'd bet serious money that the House Dems will add the requirement to end the SALT deduction, and that won't go over well with the GOP either.

There were by some estimates over 100,000 small businesses that closed last year. If that $15 m-wage is passed, then I'd guess almost NONE of them will be coming back, nor new business startups either.

What the commies don't realize is that if an employer gives an employee a dollar an hour raise, it's going to cost the employer more than that dollar.

Employers match employee SS and Medicare contributions. Higher wages mean the employers unemployment and workman's compensation insurance rate will increase. It's a larger loss for an employer when he or she has to pay workers while they're not working such as during vacation and holidays.

In some of these cases, it will mean an employer will have to double or more the wage for their employees. No possible way for a struggling business to survive that today.

What the Democrats did this election is get all the politically ignorant people to vote by shoving a ballot in their belly. Without the virus, these people would have just stayed home like they usually do. Voting is not that important to them. Cho Mo Joe is so brilliant he decides that DOUBLING the payroll expenses during a pandemic where half of all businesses are struggling to tread water long enough to make it through these lockdowns would actually stimulate the economy. There are many people just starting out or are living at home with mom and dad or are seniors who are supplementing their retirement income with a part time job. If the minimum wage is enacted, many of those people will not have a job. Many of them will still have a job but with fewer hours and/or fewer benefits. Or maybe the business can raise their prices to offset the higher costs incurred.

Liberals just don't seem to get it: when you increase the cost of labor, either the owner takes it in the shorts or he/she makes an adjustment(s). Eating the higher costs cuts into the profit margin, which is pretty narrow to begin with in many cases. A lot of business owners will close up if it isn't worth their time any more; money flows out of places where it doesn't earn a decent Return of Investment, that's just the way it is. Or they automate jobs out of existence, or they move to a another state if they can afford to do so and the new location is believed to be more profitable. Or they outsource. All of which leads to fewer jobs.

Or they make an adjustment(s). Like raising their prices, if the consumer will still buy their product or service at a higher price. In some cases the answer is yeah they will, but in others your customers will either do without your business or they'll find an acceptable alternative that is cheaper. (Hello China, India, and the Far East.) A 50% jump in the MW is not inconsequential to many small businesses, if they can maybe they'll cut hours or benefits. I believe that most of the minimum wage people out there today will not see much of an increase in their paychecks once you include consideration for the benefits.

And at a time like this when our economy is struggling so badly, we do not need to make it less attractive to open a new small business or restart an existing one. And that is exactly what a raise in the MW will do, it's hard to see why some people don't realize that. Some people look at the lucky ones who will get a bigger check, whoopee for them. But they don't look at the other people who didn't get a bigger check but did get less benefits or lost their job entirely. Or the people who would have found a job but won't because we'll see fewer new businesses starting up.

I did my time at minimum wage. When it was 5.15 an hour. Pumped jet fuel in 100 degree weather on blacktop in July. With a college degree.
