The ignorance of the American public about Social Security is stunning.

Neither Donald Trump nor Joe BIden can do a fucking thing with Social Security. On the other hand, Social Security IS AN ENTITLEMENT! Congress has the power to increase payments, decrease payments, or suspend them altogether, and there ain't a fucking thing anybody can do about it. You have NO VESTED INTEREST in your contributions. They are not "your money" in a "trust fund." That is bullshit.

But the "trust fund" metaphor is valid in at least one sense. The SS "Trust Fund" is the only source of money for our retirement checks. Our FICA taxes go into that Trust Fund, and if it is depleted, SS will revert to a Pay-as-you-Go proposition, reducing SS payments by about 20%. Those payments CANNOT BE SUBSIDIZED WITH FIT DOLLARS. (Because SS is unconstitutional).

At some point, representatives of both parties in Congress will go into a figuratively "smoke filled room" and devise a strategy to make the "Trust Fund" solvent, at least in the short term. The cap on earnings subject to the FICA tax will be raised or eliminated. The retirement age will be tweaked. The contribution rates, Employer and Employee, might be adjusted slightly.

Nobody's checks will be reduced. It will not happen.

But that doesn't stop the Democrats from lying about it. They ALWAYS lie about it.

As for the Affordable Care Act, sometimes derisively called, "Obamacare," IT WILL NEVER BE REPEALED! Republicans hate it and promise to repeal it, but it has too many things that people actually like. Also, since it is unconstitutional, Republicans cannot devise a replacement for it without creating ANOTHER unconstitutional law. So it won't happen.

For now politicians fear pissing off existing Social Security recipients so they will be grandfathered in at the current benefits. Future retirees. will get less even having paid more.

If any private sector company stole and mismanaged funds like Congress did they would be in prison.

I know this, those idiots take 17.1% of everything I earn over $200k and they have already spent every dime I have contributed. With Federal income taxes that's over 52% of every dollar I earn.
