Betsy DeVos Has Cut 600 Staff Positions in Dept of Education

No, the major qualification is a solid track record in the field of education.

Betsy Wetsy's only qualification was her family donating 200 million to Republicans and her hatred for public education.

Betsy DeVos Says It's 'Possible' Her Family Has Donated $200M To Republicans

The reason that there is a cabinet is because the POTUS cannot be an expert on everything, but their cabinet members are supposed to be in the area they are over.

It’s none of his business about my schooling it’s my parents

Failed former President Barack Hussein Obama was addressing his lack of experience as an executive. We have three branches of government, Legislative, Judicial, and EXECUTIVE. An executive is someone who oversees an entire operation. That's why Senators seldom make a good president, they have no leadership qualities. The biggest thing President Obama had ever managed was an ACORN meeting, which was shut down for voter fraud. And the Chicago Annenberg Foundation with his good friend and Domestic Terrorist Bill Ayers which was a total failure.

Yep, that is part of the reason he was such a shitty POTUS. He had no experience and no leadership skills.

All the opposition to her displayed here is not because of her hands-on experience or not, but rather that she'll succeed and further the use of school vouchers and charter schools to improve our education system.

My views on the Dept of Ed were stated in post 38 and 49. As for Devos, my problem with her is she has not done a damn thing but make herself richer and cut the Dept by a few 100 people.

Well, one day you will move out of their basement and it will be your responsibility.

No, a group he was involved with planted that pipe bomb. No link was ever made directly to Ayers. Some of you clowns are linked to are White Nationalists. Are you responsible for their violent behavior too?

Bill Ayers was the founder, along with Bernardine Dohrn of the Weather Underground. Ayers avoided being convicted for his crimes because the SCOTUS ruled that a warrant was required for electronic surveillance. Dohrn was convicted and Ayers and Dohrn raised the child of the parents in the Weather Underground convicted of murder.

If you're the leader of a terrorist organization, yes, you are responsible for what they do.

This list goes on through 1981, I've only included part of the list of crimes committed by the Weather Underground.

The term "Pittsburgh 26" refers to the 26 women arrested in connection with this incident.[2]
  • September 23 - Katherine Ann Power and Susan Edith Saxe became involved in a plot to arm the Black Panthers as a response to United States involvement in the Vietnam War.[1] Bond introduced them to former convicts William Gilday and Robert Valeri and together the group plotted to rob the State Street Bank & Trust.[1] On September 20, 1970, the group robbed a National Guard armory in Newburyport, Massachusetts and took 400 rounds of ammunition.[7] They also stole weapons and set fire to the facility, causing about $125,000 in damage. The group robbed a bank in Brighton, Massachusetts, carrying handguns, a shotgun and a submachine gun.[6] [9] The first police officer on the scene, Boston police officer Walter Schroeder, was shot in the back by Gilday when he attempted to stop the robbery.[2] He subsequently died from his wounds. The group escaped with $26,000 in cash, which they planned to use to finance an overthrow of the federal government.[2] Power was behind the wheel of one of the two getaway vehicles.
  • September 24 – A group of members confronted Chicago Police during a demonstration supporting the "National Action" and protesting the commencement of the Chicago Eight trial stemming from the 1968 Democratic National Convention.[6]

  • November–December – Karen Ashley and Phoebe Hirsch were among the few Weatherman members to join the first contingent of the Venceremos Brigade (VB) that departs for Cuba to harvest sugar cane.
  • December 6 – Bombing of several Chicago police cars parked in a precinct parking lot at 3600 North Halsted Street, Chicago. The WUO claims responsibility in "Prairie Fire," stating it was a protest of the fatal police shooting of Illinois Black Panther Party leaders Fred Hampton and Mark Clark on December 4, 1969.
  • December 27–30 – Weathermen held a "War Council" in Flint, Michigan, where plans were finalized to change into an underground organization that would commit strategic acts of sabotage against the government. Thereafter they were called "Weather Underground Organization" (WUO).[2][8]
1970[edit]
  • January - Silas and Judith Bissell placed a homemade bomb under the steps of the ROTC building. The bomb was made from an electric blasting cap, an alarm clock, a battery and a plastic bag filled with gasoline and explosives.[9]
  • February – The WUO closed the SDS National Office in Chicago, concluding the major campus-based organization of the 1960s. The first contingent of the VB returned from Cuba and the second contingent departed. By mid-February the bulk of the leading WUO members had gone underground.

  • April 1 - Based on a tip Chicago Police find 59 sticks of dynamite, ammunition, and nitro glyerine in an apartment traced to WUO members.[11] The discover of the WUO weapons cache ends WUO activity in this city.
  • April 2 - A federal grand jury in Chicago returns a number of indictments charging WUO members with violation of federal anti-riot laws.[8] Also, a number of additional federal warrants charging "unlawful flight to avoid prosecution" are returned in Chicago based on the failure of WUO members to appear for trial in local cases. (The Anti-riot Law charges were later dropped in January, 1974.)
  • April 15 – The FBI arrests WUO members Linda Sue Evans and Dianne Donghi in New York City[8] with the help of WUO infiltrator, Larry Grathwohl.[2]

DeVos should get credit for what she has done. Keep in mind, she's doing this with one hand tied behind her back. She's only able to eliminate federal level education jobs, not state level education jobs.

Bla La La - Yeah I know. Ayers was a bad dude in the 60s - YAWN

As a fellow poster pointed out earlier, MANY people serve on boards. MANY people go to political gatherings. That doesn't make any of them "pals" (as Caribou Barbie suggested) And MANY people become highly respected citizens when they were assholes as 20 year olds.

Attempting to identify Obama with a domestic terrorists from the 60's (or radical Islamists) is fuckng goofy.

DAMN YOU OBAMA!! :)

A background in public education isn't a prerequisite to being POTUS. It damn well SHOULD be for the freaking Secretary of Education. In addition, Obama was a law professor at University of Chicago Law School.

Failed former President Barack Hussein Obama was never a professor. He said himself, that he was not qualified to be President.

Nonsense as usual ^ ^ ^

UC Law School statement: The Law School has received many media requests about Barack Obama, especially about his status as "Senior Lecturer." From 1992 until his election to the U.S. Senate in 2004, Barack Obama served as a professor in the Law School. He was a Lecturer from 1992 to 1996. He was a Senior Lecturer from 1996 to 2004, during which time he taught three courses per year. Senior Lecturers are considered to be members of the Law School faculty and are regarded as professors, although not full-time or tenure-track. The title of Senior Lecturer is distinct from the title of Lecturer, which signifies adjunct status. Like Obama, each of the Law School’s Senior Lecturers have high-demand careers in politics or public service, which prevent full-time teaching. Several times during his 12 years as a professor in the Law School, Obama was invited to join the faculty in a full-time tenure-track position, but he declined.

Sucks to be you!

Well, one day you will move out of their basement and it will be your responsibility.

I'm actually feeling sorry for that guy (or Chic as the case may be ;-)

Agree, but after we deprogram them post-Trump in abandoned Walmarts connected by underground tunnels, life may return to semi-normal. :cool-45:

Calling someone a professor does not make them one.

Here’s a report filed by Doug Ross. He received the following from a source who spent time with the highest tenured faculty member at Chicago Law at the time Obama was employed there.

I spent some time with the highest tenured faculty member at Chicago Law a few months back, and he did not have many nice things to say about “Barry.” Obama applied for a position as an adjunct and wasn’t even considered.

A few weeks later the law school got a phone call from the Board of Trustees telling them to find him an office, put him on the payroll, and give him a class to teach.

The Board told him he didn’t have to be a member of the faculty, but they needed to give him a temporary position. He was never a professor and was hardly an adjunct.

Was Barack Obama a "Constitutional Law Professor"? Hardly..

Hardly..

HAHAHA!!! You RAWK Dude! :finger3:

Citing a fake Joe site as REAL news? OMFG!!!

So the major qualification is to be a "friend of public education". That's not much.

No, the major qualification is a solid track record in the field of education.

Betsy Wetsy's only qualification was her family donating 200 million to Republicans and her hatred for public education.

Betsy DeVos Says It's 'Possible' Her Family Has Donated $200M To Republicans
That's not what you said. The statement was, "Using your standards, Barry Hussein was unqualified to be involved in education", to which you replied, "No, Barry Hussein was a friend of public education. Betsy Wetsy is not." It's pretty clear that the only standard you were applying to Hussein was whether he was a "friend of public education" or not. Can you point to a "solid track record in the field of education" for Hussein?

A background in public education isn't a prerequisite to being POTUS. It damn well SHOULD be for the freaking Secretary of Education. In addition, Obama was a law professor at University of Chicago Law School.
If clinton, obama and trump can be commander in chief of the armed forces without ever having worn the uniform then Devos can be sec of education

you are comparing apples to oranges. The reason that you have a cabinet is because the POTUS cannot be an expert on everything, but their cabinet members are supposed to be in the area they are over.
Cabinet secretaries are not technocrats

they are political representatives of the president

and just as the military does not have the final say at the Pentagon neither do the career bureaucrats who serve the president
