Not saying they belong (a couple of them do) but at a certain point in their careers they were as good as any who ever played the game

1. Ron Guidry- 1978 25-3 , 1.74 ERA had 3 20 win seasons

2. Doc Gooden- 1985 24-4, 1.53 ERA at 20 years old

3. Vida Blue- 1971 24-8, 1.82 ERA, AL MVP at 21 years old, had 3 20 win seasons

4. Luis Tiant- 1968 21-9, 1.60 ERA had 4 20 win seasons

5. Fernando Valenzuela- 1981 Fernandomania threw 8 shutouts at 20 yrs old, Cy Young

6. Orel Hersheiser- 1988 23-8 2.26 ERA, 59 scoreless innings

7. JR Richard- 1978/79 300 plus strikeouts

They were all great pitchers, there should be an Honorable Mention section in the HOF

Of the bunch, I would consider Guidry, Tiant and Blue worthy of Cooperstown

Although he wouldn't be allowed in the Hall of Fame with a ticket, I would have to add......

Denny McClain- 1968 31-6 1.96 ERA 280K
1969 24-9 2.80 ERA 181K

Hopefully, someday Wakefield and Schilling will get in there. Rivera is, of course, a lock. As is Martinez - of course.

President Obama and his 'Mom Jeans'...I'm not so sure about.

NEVER! That bum is nothing but a lowlife thief. You missed the Tiger hurler who should have gotten a look.....Mickey Lolich....won over 200 games, outpitched Gibson in the '68 Word Series (Mickey won 3 games including game 7) and regularly threw more than 300 innings a season (one year threw 376!). Had a doughnut business in the off-season that's still gowing strong in metro-Detroit.

Good call....

Lolich was a hell of a pitcher and carried the Tigers in the 68 series against Bob Gibson.

McClain is one of those with great talent that messed up their chance
