Best Canadian band?

For me it's Rush without question. I'm a big fan of bands with excellent percussion and bass, so it's an easy choice.

BTO is my favorite but I like the Crash Tests Dummies:

Also like Tom Cochrane:

Rush and Neil Young. I know Neil Young is not a band but he has been in bands. :)

Have you ever heard of the Century Club?

It is a group of motorcyclists who have driven from Sky Londa to Highway 17 at an average speed of 100 MPH along Skyline.

Young has a ranch off that straight mountain highway.

On the ocean side of Skyline, I used to go swimming in a lake on the True Ranch where my dad took me when he was alive.

The best Canadian band?
I am appalled that no one has realized that all those bands listed pall in comparison to the greatest band to ever come out of the Great White North!
Rush, BTO, Guess Who, Bryan Adams... pish posh, mere pretenders to the crown... Bieber? puh-leeze, he can only dream of matching the unbridled success of Canada's #1 group.
Of course I am referring to the one and only, Montreal's Men Without Hats!

c'mon, fess-up, I know you are tapping your feet while listening to this gem. :eusa_dance:

Don't forget...

Cowboy Junkies- Sweet Jane

Cowboy Junkies- Misguided Angel

Either Arcade Fire or New pornographers among bands that are actually current.

Also, and for the record, Buffalo Springfield was a Southern California band. Neil young was from Canada but the rest weren't.
for the record....not only neil young but bass player bruce palmer and drummer dewey martin....canadians....

OMG oh I think I'm gonna die. :lmao: True story. We're out here stuck running around Manitoba before Katrina rolled in and wrecked our lives and we're hanging out in different provincial parks with the crew. I bred catahoulas and my foundation were in the van. So we're killing time.

Now Toro my husband didn't know western bands. We roll into Spruce Woods and because all we could get was CBC as we were backing into the campsite, they played the Last Saskatchewan Pirate.

I jump out of the van just singing and its a hey ho my poor husband looks at me like I'm a lunatic till he hears all the campers around me start to sing. He'd never heard the tune before.

I'll put up the links for others but oh my they did it brilliantly.

"Cause it's a heave-ho, hi-ho, comin' down the plains
Stealin' wheat and barley and all the other grains
It's a ho-hey, hi-hey farmers bar yer doors

When ya see the Jolly Roger on Regina's mighty shores
Well, Mountie Bob he chased me, he was always at my throat
He'd follow on the shoreline cause he didn't own a boat
But cutbacks were a'coming and the Mountie lost his job
And now he's sailing with us, and we call him Salty Bob!

A swingin' sword, a skull and bones and pleasant company
I never pay my income tax and screw the GST (SCREW IT!!)

Prince Albert down to Saskatoon, the terror of the seas
If you wanna reach the co-op, boy, you gotta get by me!

Cause it's a heave-ho, hi-ho, comin' down the plains
Stealin' wheat and barley and all the other grains
It's a ho-hey, hi-hey farmers bar yer doors

When ya see the Jolly Roger on Regina's mighty shores
(*spoken* Arrrr! Ya salty dog!)
(*spoken* Arrrr! Ya salty gopher!)
(*spoken* Arr.. ya.. salty bale of hay!)

Oh I am still laughing. I think most might class us as crazy.

Ummm... OK

Beyond awesome. I can go on forever on the coasters. Wonderful Grand Band. Oh hells bells so funny. The Rankin Family of course.

I may be the only one here who understands what you mean by "the coasters"

The Rankins never impressed me much though. I know they're good at marketing and all but.... eh.
