I know this is a bit off topic from the thread, but what is the purpose of the miracle?

If it is to establish authority, then the ability for others to use magic undermines that authority. Also, if the message is obviously important or useful enough, the need to establish authority becomes pointless. The message usefulness is authority in itself.

If it is to call attention to a message, then miracles are not meant for the inquisitive, but for those that disregard what they hear without something big that forces them sit up and listen. This says a lot abut people that receive divine revelation.
