The fact is the greatest liberal of the Wilson era was Robert LaFollette, who opposed WWI, and much of the other crap the author of this thread is trying to pass off as liberalism.
Wilson was not a liberal, Wilson was a leftist - an internationalist Fabian. As long and nations exist, mankind has hope, a chance to escape repression. Leftism is predicated upon totalitarian control, from Lenin to Obama, this is a constant, the populace MUST be controlled through force by a ruling elite. The regimes of old Europe, particularly Prussia, had trouble maintaining dictatorial control because the captive people could escape to America.
Early on, the left recognized that success required an international movement, where there is no escape and no hope for the enslaved. Wilson promoted this internationalism, as does Obama. When Obama preaches that America is nothing special, he is merely reciting leftist dogma, that a international dictatorship impose upon the ruled people of the world.
I cannot call Wilson a Fascist, because Wilson knew nothing of Fascism.
SOC (sucks old cocks) posted the ignorant babble that is used by most of the left to define fascism. It's ignorant and deliberately wrong - it is propaganda promoted by leftists.
So, what is Fascism? It is a system that was designed and defined by Benito Mussolini, "Il Fascisti." Fascism is not a mystery nor difficult to define, Mussolini wrote prodigiously and meticulously.
Fascism is;
Mussolini* - THE DOCTRINE OF FASCISM
To UNDERSTAND Fascism requires one to have a basic understanding of Mussolini. Benito Mussolini did not start out as a Fascist. If one wonders why Dr. Lawrence Britt propagated the bullshit he did, the answer is simple, prior to forming the Fascisti, Mussolini was head of the Italian BOLSHEVIK party, yep, Il Deuce was a Communist and a compatriot of Vlad Lenin.
THE PROBLEM WITH MARXISM is that it simply doesn't work. while Lenin was an ignorant baboon, a brawler like Hitler, who could stir a crowd but had little grasp of economic or political theory, Mussolini was an academic. Mussolini understood economics, and struggled with the obvious flaws of Marxist theory. Fascism arose not to crush Marxism, but to fix it. Indeed, Stalin adopted Mussolini's economic system completely in 1928, after the failure of the NEP.
Fascism is an economic system - giving lie to the idiocy Dr. Lawrence Britt promoted, Britt is a Communist who sought to distance Fascism from Communism - Britt took liberties with the truth, as leftists tend to do.
So why does it matter that Fascism is an economic system? Because it reveals the chicanery of Britt and other Bolshevik apologists. Britt places nationalism as the first characteristic of Fascism, and indeed nationalism is present in most Fascist regimes, but in a classic fallacy of causation, it is not the defining attribute. Nationalism is present in nearly ALL dictatorships, including the Communist dictatorships that Dr. Britt defends.
What differentiates Fascism from other forms of command economies is that Fascism merges state and corporate power structures. Well connected people, what Ayn Rand called "looters" are placed in charge of corporations that operate at the behest of and with the guidance of the state. A real life example of this is Blue Cross or Kaiser - these are psuedo-private companies with strong ties to the Obama regime who are granted special position by the regime, with legal requirements that the population buy their products, using the armed enforcement of the state to ensure compliance.
Fascism is corporatism, the merging of state and corporate structures.
