The key here was that wrestling's Battman spelled his name with two t's, totally unlike Batman on TV.

Battman was no jabroni either, he won the WWWF tag title with the Living Legend, Bruno Sammartino back in the day.

I never cared for the gimmick even as a child but others seem to like it and found it fun to see.
