This is the form(4473) filled out by someone who wants to buy a firearm. It is investigated by the Federal and state governments to detect any disqualifying condition in the applicant's history(Background check). Until the applicant passes the check, he cannot take possession of the gun he bought.

Some states do not require a 4473 or state form (if they have one) to be filled out for a private firearm purchase.....Called a face-to-face (FTF) transaction.....The ATF defers to the states as it regards the 4473 in that instance.

Virginia was such a state till a few years ago when the dems briefly held sway and passed a law banning private purchases.....Even the gifting of a firearm from father to son is "illegal" now unless there is a check done.

Hell, our local flea market looked like a open-air arms bazaar. Guns were even available at yard sales. No "blood in the streets".

We held a bi-yearly swap meet/cook-out were scores of like-minded folks traded guns among ourselves. Good times.

The .org in my sig line is working to get things right again and hopefully if we can hold the state House and then get shed of a couple of dems in our state senate next year we can do so again.
