This is a story about good men being in the right place and the right time thank heavens. Because the owners were so negligent as to chain their dog to their front porch and abandon her.
Happy ending though. Meet Archer and her new family.
Sheriff adopts dog he rescued from knee-deep Texas flood waters after he found her chained to a house with no way to escape
This just made my blood boil seeing this picture. This poor baby left all alone. Waters rising and the dog is chained with no hope of escape.
Nehls discovered Archer, a 2-year-old female border collie mix, tied to a front porch at a home about 30 miles southwest of Houston this week, nearly submerged in murky flood waters (pictured)
They found five more abandoned dogs on the return trip.
"At the time of Archer's rescue, Nehls was in a boat crewed by volunteers Richard Allen and Jeff Shimek, which was also carrying a news crew from NBC affiliate KPRC, according to Click2Houston.
As the group surveyed the flooded neighborhood, they spotted Archer who was nearly submerged in murky flood waters and was seen in footage barely being able to hold her head above the water.
In video of the rescue, Archer and Shimek are seen going into the water and untying the dog before placing her in a boat.
'This is infuriating,' Sheriff Nehls wrote on his Facebook page after finding Archer left for dead. 'These residents will get a visit from me when they return.' "
More at link. Great story with a very happy ending.
