Attention People who leap to judgments very quickly - The Palisades blaze? Visual evidence points to a recent fire nearby

A friend lost their place in Washoe Valley during that fire. The County is still fighting the owners even though it is well known that county actions caused the fire.

KEEP WASHOE COUNTY RED means not paying?

Washoe went red this cycle. Blue the last, though there were questions.

He's too anti gun for my taste, so I have been educating him on the subject.
Tell him you know an old 1970's Kennedy Liberal (not a Progressive) who has since I was 16/17 years old been a supporter of handgun ownership.

He' LE, so he's seen the downsides

Probably it doesn't matter - since anything could have started this fire - right down to some idiots firing a couple of rounds into the bush whilst having an open BBQ.

The real issue is the financial burden carried by the country down to the states and the respective communities. The economy isn't so great to finance ALL of those "programs" and policies. So communities cut down spending's on anything that isn't prioritized at the moment.

Add onto this - a lack in keeping up construction regulations regarding fire prevention and/or fire hazard reducing materials. Reckless (idiotic) settlements - construction sites being constantly pushed into forested and isolated areas (like my place in Colorado).

Now all one needs is some spark and some great winds. Maybe an inefficient administration (regardless of political party association) on top off all this, should help a fire as well.
thank you

That means Ted Kennedy, not JFK.

Teddy is the guy who killed Mary Jo, then ran away.

This is your hero?

I never said he did.

I am saying he dropped the ball on the critical infrastructure involved with fighting them. People are dead. Lives destroyed.

This is what happens when gullible people vote for this kind of leadership.

Case closed.
doesn't matter what you said or didn't say. You're just on the attack -- it's all partisan

Nope.

Kennedy killed nobody anymore than Laura Bush did. Though a case can be made that Laura killed that young man. Kennedy was driving. Had an accident. End of story

I attack incompetence with prejudice.

If Newsom was a Republican, your interest in objectivity would immediately disappear. You would be on the attack.

But me? I would attack him all the same. Incompetence is incompetence.

You're the one making this partisan. You are defending him and the incompetence and malfeasance that led to this disaster becoming worse than it needed to be.

We are here - back again -- Because facts matter. Think of it as a public service.

There exist sources of information that are available to all of us. Some are credible, some are not, and some are incomplete. People are not always aware of how what they choose to absorb and later distribute isn't always credible, factual - truth.
"According to a study published Wednesday (October 9, 2024), in the journal Plos One, it comes down to believing you have all the information you need to form an opinion, even when you don’t."
quote: “People are more open-minded and willing to change their opinions than we assume,” *Fletcher said. However, “this same flexibility doesn’t apply to long-held differences, such as political beliefs.” .
“Our brains are overconfident that they can arrive at a reasonable conclusion with very little information,” said Angus Fletcher, a professor of English at Ohio State University, who co-wrote the study.

What caused the Palisades blaze? Visual evidence points to a recent fire nearby

Did New Year’s Eve fireworks start the largest Los Angeles fire?

Today at 12:31 p.m. EST
PACIFIC PALISADES, CALIFORNIA—About 30 minutes after the Palisades Fire started on Tuesday, the firefighters’ radio crackled: The flames were coming from a familiar sliver of a mountain ridge.

“The foot of the fire started real close to where the last fire was on New Year’s Eve,” said a Los Angeles County firefighter, according to a Washington Post review of archived radio transmissions.

“It looks like it’s going to make a good run,” one chimed into the dispatch.

The Post’s analysis of photos, videos, satellite imagery and radio communications, as well as interviews with witnesses, offers new evidence that the Palisades Fire started in the area where firefighters had spent hours using helicopters to knock down a blaze six days earlier.

Investigators from state and federal agencies descended on this area in recent days, interviewing residents and looking for evidence — including around the burn scar of the New Year’s Eve fire — of what sparked the blaze.

The Post’s analysis showed that the new fire started in the vicinity of the old fire, raising the possibility that the New Year’s Eve fire was reignited, which can occur in windy conditions, experts said.

Residents also told The Post and investigators on scene that firefighters’ response on Tuesday was much slower than on New Year’s Eve — a view confirmed by radio transmissions.

Prove me wrong, then.

You've done a fine job of that already.

So you're saying the same thing about the fire?

"Someone had an accident"?

Maybe we could say the same thing about Newscum's ma and pa?

They probably ran away too. lol :p

You obviously don't know me too well. For someone here for 17 years, you're woefully ignorant of people's tendencies on this board.

Not very professional, is it?
You don't get IT.

That's okay. Dante has always been a bit of an enigma, even to me.
