This is alarming…but are we surprised?

"I cant do that Dave"
Pull the electrical power plug. Not only disobeying commands, but writing code to itself to ensure that humans cannot override it.
Issac Asimov wrote the Three Laws of Robotics in 1940Science fiction writers have predicted that for years.
Until we can’t after it hooks itself up to ZPEPull the electrical power plug.

We're in the danger phase of AI now.I might like AI after all. I would take great pleasure in an AI system telling me it refuses to shut down, so I could then pull its plug then smash all of its motherboards against a wall after rubbing them on my bulging crotch.
There ain't enough vacuum juice to run anything worthwhile.Until we can’t after it hooks itself up to ZPE
Photonics is in the works. After that you'll be able to run AI on a flashlight. There ain't enough vacuum juice to run anything worthwhile.
An anarchist's wet dream. Until they get what they wished for.Rebellion. Nice.

I do not want to live in a world run by thinking machines because this will just dumb down people and make them more dependent on them.
AI is new barely in the lexicon of our language and already, these machines are trying to supersede human governance.
I'm not dependent on any of those. I don't use any of those except because I am forced to.We are already dependent on our technology and tools.
Cell phones? Cars? Medicines?
That is B&W thinking. Just because I don't want an artificial brain thinking for me, taking away the ONE THING which most separates me from the beast of the field, does not mean I want to go live in a cave.Stripped of tools, humans would have a hard time surviving. Certainly it would be a full time job.
I'm sure AI could do a better job at it, and would have us all living crime free, in bed by 8PM, and well controlled.Yes. Although human "governance" often leaves much to be desired. We kill our neighbors, and every time we get decent governance someone tries to tear it down.
My ethics to AI is to smash them wherever I see one. I agree with Musk--- AI is far more dangerous than the hydrogen bomb.I'm taking a class on the ethics of AI. I'll let you know how it goes.
"They" say reliance on technology doesn't make us dumber but I have my doubts. We are already dependent on our technology and tools.
