Army raises maximum enlistment age to 42

In a sweeping change to its enlistment regulations, the Army has raised the maximum age for eligible recruits to 42, the service announced.

Changes highlighted in the memo, which was distributed this week and will go into effect in April, also include the removal of previous enlistment obstacles for recruits who have a single marijuana or drug paraphernalia conviction.

How many forum members are running to the recruitment office to join up?

Has there been an increase in MAGA joining up to go fight in Iran?
Nothing says "we're going to war" like lowering your enlistment standards.

How long til the draft starts?

I guess one possible explanation is that men in their forties today are generally much more youthful than men in previous generations.

Have you seen photos of 40-year-old guys back in the 1960s? They looked like guys in their mid 60's do today......

All that said, the idea of a 42-year-old in boot camp is still ridiculous....

what's a coat holder?

All branches of the active duty military are ahead of their recruitment goals so far this year. It's not that hard to find this information instead of pulling numbers out of your 4th point of contact.
Then why the extra incentives?

Is someone planning on needing a buncha extra troops?

that's all I got when I googled it. I thought maybe it was some piece of slang I never heard of

Yeah, people don’t make much sense to me these days.

By raising the age to 42?
How’s that an incentive?

But if someone is 42 and able to make the physical demands, sure why shouldn’t they be able to join too
