The Marine Corp is not an elite force, but they do have units that fill those rolls just like all the other branches. I was Army and installed/trouble shot networks. For every Infantryman there is a buttload of support personnel.

but per capita, there are better jobs in the AF and Navy
there are not many ''infantry'' in the AF and Navy
the Navy has more ''specialists'' per capita--

The Coasties has a little over 40K active duty compared to the Marines 200,000 that must make them extra elite. Every job in the Air Force and Marines has an Army equivalent. The only job in the Navy that I can think of that's not an Army MOS is sub driver or whatever the **** squids call that.

people--young and old--do not think as much of the CG as the other branches
they don't do much/as much in wars/conflicts/foreign disasters/etc
CG is not comparable
CG does not get as much publicity==therefore not seen as elite/etc
