Disabled Army Veteran Pulls A Handgun To Thwart Home Invasion

Bogart, GA – A wheelchair-bound Army veteran used his 9MM handgun to stop a home invasion. Mark Sikes did not hesitate to let the would-be burglar know that he had picked the wrong house to rob. The Georgia man served as a military police officer in Korea.

Mark Sikes heard someone breaking down his front door and immediately reached for his 9MM handgun, WAGA-TV notes. Mere seconds after the gun was removed from a nearby drawer, the disabled veteran was face-to-face with the home intruder.
The Georgia veteran also stated that when he started to raise his gun, the intruder ran out the door as quickly as he could. Sikes went on to say about the attempted burglary:

Would this VET have been able to defend himself with Feinstein's all out ban on guns?

How often are guns used by private citizens in self defense per year in the United States?

There are approximately two million defensive gun uses (DGU's) per year by law abiding citizens.
That was one of the findings in a national survey conducted by Gary Kleck, a Florida State University criminologist in 1993.
Prior to Dr. Kleck's survey, thirteen other surveys indicated a range of between 800,000 to 2.5 million DGU's annually.
However these surveys each had their flaws which prompted Dr. Kleck to conduct his own study specifically tailored to estimate the number of DGU's annually.

Based on survey data from the U.S. Department of Justice, roughly 5,340,000 violent crimes were committed in the United States during 2008. These include simple/aggravated assaults, robberies, sexual assaults, rapes, and murders.[13] [14] [15] Of these, about 436,000 or 8% were committed by offenders visibly armed with a gun.[16]

* Based on survey data from a 2000 study published in the Journal of Quantitative Criminology,[17] U.S. civilians use guns to defend themselves
and others from crime at least 989,883 times per year.[18]

Gun Control - Just Facts

Almost 1 million times people defended themselves... VERY VERY FAR CRY from the 88 killed in 2012 by those nefarious mass murderers!
