Are you watching Jeff Sessions? "I don't remember" is a terrible explanation.

Anyone who has ever worked in a busy environment knows it's nearly impossible to recall insignificant details after several days.
Which is why it is a good idea to write some notes immediately afterward, if not during.

Or you could just tape all conversations in the Oval Office...
You're an idiot if you honestly think that. lol

Did I have a meeting with the Russian Ambassador? I don't remember.

Now, Sessions if explaining why he was working outside the bounds of his recusal when he co-signed Comey's "notice".

Perhaps he was coached by Bill and Hillary Clinton?

konradv, you don't have enough of the facts to warrant an informed decision. "I know nothing" appears to suggest you are talking about yourself.
Doesn't that apply to you to. You seem to have "informed" opinions, despite also not having all the facts. Pot, kettle, black.
Read the Rosenstein letter. It incapsulates the problems with Comey. (Rosenstein is the Attorney general)
Even assuming that was correct, which it isn't, Trump fired him over Russia.

Behind Comey’s firing: An enraged Trump, fuming about Russia

Sessions recused himself from anything "Russian" in the Trump Administration/Russian investigation. Then he signed the termination letter and Trump said he was firing Comey because of the Russian investigation, which, of course, violates Sessions recusal pledge. Got it?
You have that wrong. If you take the time to read Rod Rosensteins letter, the reason for the termination is because of Comey's usurping of power away from prosecutors, having press conferences to the public which were against the rules and manifested himself as prosecutor, judge and jury on the Hillary Clinton investigation. There is nothing about the Russian investigation that was paramount in the reason for the termination of Comey. Several former Attorney Generals and Deputy Attorney generals weighed in on the problem of Comey's behavior.
If that was the real reason, they would have fired him on Day One, and they would have had a meeting with Comey to criticize him long before firing him.

They would not have waited until the day after Trump asked them for an excuse to fire him several months into the Administration.

It's bullshit.
Honestly, I have a problem with the timing as well. But Democratic Attorney Generals agreed with the decision to fire him.
Rosenstein was using ex post facto reasons to fire Comey. He was reverse engineering the case after being directed by Trump to find a way to fire Comey. But it is a simple fact, admitted by Trump, the real reason was the Russian investigation.

Those letters were a railroad job. They are not the reason Comey was fired.
Can you deny that he wasn't acting as prosecutor, judge and jury when it was not his role?
I have all kinds of problems with the way Comey handled the Clinton investigation. But, again, that is not why Comey was really fired.

I find it the height of hilarity that Sessions says with a straight face he believed he should write a letter to fire Comey because Comey's bungling over Clinton helped Trump.

You think it is a bad idea to take notes? You just admitted you got burned because someone didn't!

Sessions met with the guy, and a hundred or so other participants for an Obama sponsored event. If Sessions can't remember meeting him, then you have to know he's lying. How many of you could possibly forget being in the room with hundreds of others, and meeting everyone?

We need to organize protest and impeach Trump. He, Sessions and Puttin are a threesome, and I don't mean the Musketeers. They stole the election from Hillary, they're Russians spies, and the greatest threat to our nation since Pearl Harbor. Maybe worse.

It's obvious you have never had a job that involves multitasking.

I'm multitasking right now!

My wife marvels I am able to watch the news and read a book and listen to a podcast at the same time.

The tards on this forum are only getting a tenth of my wattage. Imagine if I turned on them full force!

Was he even allowed to meet with the Russian Ambassador? Doesn't that violate Dodd-Frank or the Separation of Church and State or something?
Holding hidden communications with a hostile foreign power who attacked the foundation of our government, elections, doesn't look good. Such meetings always draw scrutiny.

Uh huh

Strange how Progressives try hard to ignore that this ever happened. I'm sure petulant former President Barack Hussein Obama wished it had never happened either.

The timeline to which Sessions admitted today:

1) Trump begins publicly whining about Comey's Russian investigation.

2) Trump directs the Attorney General and the Assistant Attorney General to give him a reason to fire Comey. This request is kept from the public.

3) Rosenstein and Sessions write letters criticizing Comey's performance as FBI director, citing shit from way back in the campaign. Neither Sessions nor Rosenstein have ever spoken to Comey about this supposed bad performance before firing him.

4) Comey is fired. Trump doesn't even have the courage to fire him personally.

5) The letters written by Rosenstein and Sessions are released to the public by Trump, without telling the public the letters were written on Trump's orders.

6) Trump invites the Russians into the White House to celebrate Comey's firing with them.

7) The public does not buy the lie give that Trump fired Comey on the recommendation of Sessions and Rosenstein. The idiot plan backfires and blows up in Trump's face.

8) Trump admits in an interview the real reason he fired Comey is because of the Russian investigation.

In his testimony, Sessions expects us all to bleev he did not know he was being asked to write a letter as cover for the Russian thing. He is deliberately stonewalling.
Sure, he's lying about what he knew about Comey's firing, but I don't think that's much of an issue. He's denying that he had a third meeting with the ruskie ambassador. I don't know what evidence there is as to whether it occurred.
I do not believe for one second Jeff Sessions plotted with the Russians in their attacks on our electoral system. I find that virtually impossible to believe.

I do find it convenient to Trump that Sessions, who is the man who is supposed to prosecute any criminals who participated in those attacks, has been sidelined.

As for the reasons Sessions gave for writing his letter, no one with more than two brain cells will buy that bullshit. If Sessions and Rosenstein had had problems with what Comey had done regarding the Clinton investigation TEN MONTHS PRIOR, they would have fired him on day one of the Trump Administration. They would have fired him at the earliest possible opportunity.

It's plain to everyone Comey was fired because he would not cave on the Russian investigation.

No, they wrote those letters at that late date because Trump wanted the Russian investigation stopped immediately, and they were ordered to write those letters by Trump.

I like the way you spin, kinda like a Beanie and Cecil hat-)

Truth is, he was fired because of the Russia investigation. That is 100% correct, and know why? Because Trump asked him to report to the citizens that Trump was NOT under investigation, which he was not by Comeys own testimony.

As Marco Rubio put it succinctly----------> Isn't it funny that the only thing NOT to leak out, was that Trump was NOT under investigation!

Yep, ole Jeffy has "selective amnesia". I suspect we'll be seeing a lot of that in the coming months from the Trump mafia.

No, the apprentice emperor is only working for Donald Trump. Even a two-digit IQ can see that.

Rubio to Sessions: "Did you linger?"

Sessions: "I remember I was one of the last one's to leave."

Is that lingering?

I like Jeff Sessions. He has the balls to speak about politically charged topics in the past on the floor of congress. He is a man of great integrity.
NOT anymore....

sadly, he sold his soul to Satan.

Why would Trump fire him when he told Trump he wasn't the target of the investigation? Trump even said he was looking forward to the conclusion of the investigation so he would know if any of his associates were involved in the leaks.

Doesn't make sense.
