Are you watching Jeff Sessions? "I don't remember" is a terrible explanation.

Why would he remember whether the Russian ambassador is at an event last year?

I don't remember this upsetting you when Hillary said she doesn't remember
Remember when Hillary had to be reminded about what really happened when she landed in Bosnia?

Did he say he wasn't briefed on Russian interference in the election? I lost connection to a running commentary.

Well, that would be a brief briefing since there was no Russian interference in the election. :p

She didn't remember. She was probably drunk and falling over.

The timeline to which Sessions admitted today:

1) Trump begins publicly whining about Comey's Russian investigation.

2) Trump directs the Attorney General and the Assistant Attorney General to give him a reason to fire Comey. This request is kept from the public.

3) Rosenstein and Sessions write letters criticizing Comey's performance as FBI director, citing shit from way back in the campaign. Neither Sessions nor Rosenstein have ever spoken to Comey about this supposed bad performance before firing him.

4) Comey is fired. Trump doesn't even have the courage to fire him personally.

5) The letters written by Rosenstein and Sessions are released to the public by Trump, without telling the public the letters were written on Trump's orders.

6) Trump invites the Russians into the White House to celebrate Comey's firing with them.

7) The public does not buy the lie give that Trump fired Comey on the recommendation of Sessions and Rosenstein. The idiot plan backfires and blows up in Trump's face.

8) Trump admits in an interview the real reason he fired Comey is because of the Russian investigation.

In his testimony, Sessions expects us all to bleev he did not know he was being asked to write a letter as cover for the Russian thing. He is deliberately stonewalling.
Sure, he's lying about what he knew about Comey's firing, but I don't think that's much of an issue. He's denying that he had a third meeting with the ruskie ambassador. I don't know what evidence there is as to whether it occurred.
It is said he had a meeting at the Mayflower Hotel. Seems pretty specific. Can't they just check?

I do not believe for one second Jeff Sessions plotted with the Russians in their attacks on our electoral system. I find that virtually impossible to believe.

I do find it convenient to Trump that Sessions, who is the man who is supposed to prosecute any criminals who participated in those attacks, has been sidelined.

As for the reasons Sessions gave for writing his letter, no one with more than two brain cells will buy that bullshit. If Sessions and Rosenstein had had problems with what Comey had done regarding the Clinton investigation TEN MONTHS PRIOR, they would have fired him on day one of the Trump Administration. They would have fired him at the earliest possible opportunity.

It's plain to everyone Comey was fired because he would not cave on the Russian investigation.

No, they wrote those letters at that late date because Trump wanted the Russian investigation stopped immediately, and they were ordered to write those letters by Trump.

Was he even allowed to meet with the Russian Ambassador? Doesn't that violate Dodd-Frank or the Separation of Church and State or something?
Holding hidden communications with a hostile foreign power who attacked the foundation of our government, elections, doesn't look good. Such meetings always draw scrutiny.

Well if he ever does that we should look into it

Did I have a meeting with the Russian Ambassador? I don't remember.

Now, Sessions if explaining why he was working outside the bounds of his recusal when he co-signed Comey's "notice".
He said, "No."
As the Boss, he most likely had to sign it, didn't he?
What is the question? He signed the termination letter.
Sessions recused himself from anything "Russian" in the Trump Administration/Russian investigation. Then he signed the termination letter and Trump said he was firing Comey because of the Russian investigation, which, of course, violates Sessions recusal pledge. Got it?
Really. How so?

Sessions did not recuse himself as AG. rdean, you're a true dumbass of Flake Starkey proportions.
No one said he recused himself as AG. So stop with the delusions already.

No one has said they had a meeting at the Mayflower. They were both at an event at the Mayflower at the same time. Sessions said he didn't know the ambassador was going to be there and they did not have a meeting. I believe him.

I think Sessions is just an ambitious suck-up who has found himself caught in the middle of a shit storm.

I think if Sessions had not been sidelined, he would be taking aggressive action against the Russian interference in our election. For all his faults, he loves this country and hates all enemies, foreign and domestic.

Like Comey, he also just testified that he has seen no interest by Trump in doing anything about Russia's attack on us.

I agree. Like I said I lost the running script, but I'd find it very strange if Sessions had not been up to speed on Comey's investigation before he recused, and I don't think recusal here is that same thing as a judge recusing. A judge doesn't even get updated info. But Sessions is the AG. He may not be taking an active role in guiding the overall invesitation, but he is resposonible for the DOJ .. and he did participate in firing Comey.

He's not a spy, he's just a happy little racist who met with some Russians because he was in Trump's campaign and was being polite.

Jeff Sessions Recuses Himself From Russia Inquiry
As the AG he is still the chief legal adviser to the US president. If he could not fulfill that roll he would obviously be useless. Comey's only role was certainly not only the lame Russian-collusion investigation.

Comey was long-gone regardless of who won the election. Put the blame on Bill C and Loretta L taking 30 minutes talking in private about grandchildren and stuff. I am not saying he was boinking her on her airplane.

Still, sleazy!

You have that wrong. If you take the time to read Rod Rosensteins letter, the reason for the termination is because of Comey's usurping of power away from prosecutors, having press conferences to the public which were against the rules and manifested himself as prosecutor, judge and jury on the Hillary Clinton investigation. There is nothing about the Russian investigation that was paramount in the reason for the termination of Comey. Several former Attorney Generals and Deputy Attorney generals weighed in on the problem of Comey's behavior.

The day after the election, Obama's looking out a window in the executive office sighing, "Well at least I get to leave him Jim Comey." LOL
