Are you ready to lose your Job and Income?

Oh, my industry... trucking...is in the crosshairs. It's not if, but when. Luckily, I'm on the downhill side of my career and I have many other skills to fall back on. I figure I have at least a decade...maybe more.

What am I going to do?

Something else. I have tools, knowledge and skills.
Tools, knowledge and skills is what AI supplies

There seems to be a lot of commoner Prog Socialist Politicians who are a lot richer now than when they entered politics. If everyone is of the proletariat class, then all are the same. No steak for them and spam for everyone else.
The rich are the only Americans that will benefit from AI. All the rest of us are going to be screwed. It is the Capitalists dream tool

Enjoy your downward slide into unimaginable poverty and homelessness watching computers run circles around you.

Not around ME, given that I am retired and set for the rest of my life economically. You, on the other hand, might suffer that fate

YOu don't need to "find a way" when he takes personal responsibility on national TV
As he should, he’s not just the president of peace but of innovation

Dems would have us at war, constantly, and driving horse drawn carriages

You guys are so backwards and weird

Weird…this post is even more ironic now

AI Overview

Construction robots use automation to perform a variety of tasks, increasing safety and efficiency on job sites. These robots handle dangerous and labor-intensive jobs like bricklaying, welding, excavation, and 3D printing, while also assisting with heavy lifting and site surveying. Benefits include greater precision, reduced labor costs, faster project completion, and protection for workers from hazardous environments.

Amazon? Now for the rest of the story.

50% of the people Amazon hires quit the first year.

Sounds like Amazon is not losing it's people to AI.
Unfortunately, in many businesses staff turnover is now every six months due to lack of staff and staff training. Companies used to look after and invest in employees, but that's long gone in the majority of businesses.

Tools, knowledge and skills is what AI supplies
No, it doesn't. What AI supplies is the ability to analyze data. Huge mountains of data. It's not going to come over and fix your plumbing, wire a ceiling fan or build you a chicken coop. It's not going to trim your trees, fix the hole in your fiberglass boat or fabricate new heating duct. It's not going to rebuild the carb on the lawn mower you left bad gas in, or fix your chainsaw, or install a new thermostat in your Chevy.

It's not going to build you a shed, turn a new spindle to match the one your teen broke on your staircase railing, or rebuild an inline 6 cylinder tractor motor.

I can do every one of those things and more.

And I have chickens, and a garden and I hunt and fish.

I can add goats and rabbits and I'm almost self sufficient without hunting and fishing.

________

Now, here's the 64,000 dollar question ... where the **** were you when WE were making this argument about shipping American jobs overseas to save money on labor???

And we're not talking about the 80s and 90s, we're talking 2015 and 2016.

You didn't give a single ****... and to this very day you rail against Trump Tariffs attempting to level the playing field and move manufacturing back to America.

Why do you care about AI and robots?

Because it's white collar jobs now at risk? Cry me a river.

And these entry level jobs you demanded provide the same wage as skilled labor? And now they are being replaced by automation? We screamed in your faces for years this is exactly what would happen. Your stupidity fueled the advancement in robotics and AI... because you created the surge in demand for automated replacement of human workers. You made the initial outlay of capital a reasonable alternative. A machine can handle the fry station and flip hamburgers.

Reap what you've sown. There is nothing for the government to do about it now.

I was just reading about this today, why 3D printing hasn't replaced traditional building practices. Building sites are simply too chaotic for AI adapt to. Too many variables and moving parts for them to process simultaneously.

3D printing is weak structurally. It may change but is has a long way to go. At least for stuff that requires strength.

A rocket company 3D printed a rocket, they aint doing that anymore. There are a lot of stuff that can be printed but some stuff not so much

Of course now there are many types of 3D printers so who knows.

Not entirely true. Rolls Royce 3D prints the fuel pumps for their jet engines. Incredibly robust, and reliable.

But the printers cost millions of dollars per unit.

True, not entirely true. I think I responded to a comment that spoke of structures where strength is needed.

Kind of amazing when I think of metal and that it is actually a chemical. Maybe one day they look back at everything we do today as if we are Neanderthals

We got 3-D printers everywhere at SpaceX. We print some parts.

This is the little I know. And I mean that. I wonder how this stuff looks when it undergoes a nice round of NDE inspections. I think this may be the limitation of 3D printed stuff. At least for today.
