When you say "depend on the government for help", a large number of those people earned their Social Security pensions. They are counted in your figure.

As are the disabled who can't work even if they want to.

Then there are the nearly two million active duty personnel who draw a government paycheck. And millions of defense workers, along with the retired vets like myself, and our disabled vets.

To imply everyone who gets a government check is some kind of leech is the epitome of dishonesty.

I'm not saying that is what you are doing. But it is what the Trump cult is implying.

Trump has such a phantasmagorical resentment toward the country which tried to hold him accountable for his crimes that he wants to punish everyone and make our country as dysfunctional and inefficient as possible.

Why are we not considering cutting military spending? Answer me that and we will continue the debate.

Because we'd have to change the fundamental nature of the military in order to enact significant cuts. In order for us to continue being able to project overwhelming military power rapidly around the globe, we have to have bases all over the world, and those are expensive. We have to have ordinance available to go at a moment's notice, and that's expensive. We have to have personnel ready to go anywhere at any time and that's expensive. If we changed the military to defensive only and allowed the rest of the world to duke it out amongst themselves, we could seriously cut military spending.

So, we have a choice, keep spending big bucks, be the world's police force and enforce a semblance of peace, or cut back and watch the world's enemies kill each other in mass slaughters. Naturally, those who want to cut military spending now would be horrified to watch the disasters unfold and Uncle Sam do nothing.

Analyze Government, find redundancies or unneeded functions. Eliminate those functions and the workers performing them
