We do not need any new laws just enforce our current immigration laws, enforce the borders period. we want our laws enforced why should we give special treatment to cheats and law breakers. go back to where you came from fill out the proper forms and wait in line with the rest of the immigrants that are seeking to come here.

What you advocate is changing nothing. Just tell the INS and Boarder Patrol to do a better job. That does not solve the problem. We can continue to do the same thing and the results will be same.

The only thing I have a problem with is giving amnesty to the remainder...we've given amnesty out several times in the past and the ONLY result has been increased illegal immigration. As long as that's on the table, I'm against it. Giving amnesty to people who broke into this country is like giving amnesty to all burglars...are you in favor of that?

It's also a slap in the face to every LEGAL immigrant in this nation not to mention people like my brother's mother in law and our Hungarian friends that were NEVER allowed into this country and didn't break our laws to come here.

Yes. Calling an illegal alien an 'immigrant' or 'undocumented worker' is like calling a burglar a house guest. And granting amnesty to those already here makes about as much sense as telling the burglar that oh well, as long as you're here, you might as well settle into the spare bedroom.

And, as previously stated, giving amnesty and a path to citizenship to those who have been here two or more years or who have been here a long time is like giving the death penalty to the guy who commits manslaughter but giving probation to the serial killer. Or if the bank robber robs a certain quota of banks, then he is entitled to just take the money no questions asked.

You know what? If you make house guests out of the burglar or give amnesty to the long time illegal alien, what deterrant is there for breaking and entering your house or your country?

I think you're missing the point being made. Already Obama is hustling to get the rest of his most unpopular big ticket legislation out of committee and to a vote before he loses his mega majorities in Congress. That way he can claim all these magnificent victories and accomplishments and it's no skin off his nose if the evil Republicans then reverse some or all of it. He'll have his legacy. At least that's how he sees it now. He doesn't give a damn whether any of it is any good. I suspect he knows very well that it isn't. But he thinks you don't know that and will believe him that he was magnificent and was crucified on the alter of politics. or something like that.

Obama wants to be great. He's not the least bit interested in doing something great. He simply wants the image and doesn't care how he gets it.

So after the November election, Congress still has 60 days to do anything they want so long as Obama will sign it. And if most of them have already been beaten in their elections anyway, they will have absolutely nothing to lose before they have to leave their positions. Obama may get anything he wants.

And that should be terrifying to any sane person.

I cant wait fpr the 2012 presidential debates. The dems will be standing on repealing Glass-Steagall, the Fannie/Freddie cash-cows, the Community Reinvestment Act, etc.

The dems whine about the financial collapse, the GOP can say thet they got what they deserved because they caused it. Fact-checkers should burn up PCs checking the facts on which party caused the financial mess.
