The electoral system was designed to give people a voice who did not have it. In the 19th century, the rural areas were far more powerful than the cities. So, the electoral process worked for the cities. The checks and balances are weakened or removed. The Federal Reserve Act, the 17th Amendment, the 16th Amendment, the 19th Amendment quickly morphed our nation into a voracious sloth with a huge dictatorial federal government that has gotten us at least a soft tyranny. We all live in this. And we are used to it. We needed to keep it under control though. Everyone should vote. Even the super poor and stupid know if they like or don't like one party or another. In fact, they tend to vote correctly. Because they aren't won over with social wedge issues like gays and woke.
