Zone1 Are Religions Moral???

I'm aware of Islam's stance on adults marrying children and it is disgusting.
I'm not a fan of the Abrahamic religions in general.
After some thought on the general issue of the religions, I thought about how for 60 years, scientists have detected that Earth has a steady pulse of every 26 seconds. To me, Earth is our God. It gave us life and has a pulse. I've always felt that the claim that we were "created" in a god's image, was pretty narcissistic of us. So, if anything should be worshipped, worship mother Earth. It doesn't demand anything of us and gives us life. As to human behavior, nothing wrong with making laws regarding the obvious (theft, murder, rape, et cetera). These are just plain common-sense things.
That sounds like the Native American view of God, Earth and all things in it. I always liked the logic and simplicity of it.

Leviticus saying adulterers should be stoned, a common practice at that time.
Was it a common practice at that time? Are you guessing that was true? Did you bother to look it up before stating it as fact?

Religion is a tool. It can be used for good or bad.

It could be said that "moral" aspires to an objective truth, while "moralistic" concerns establishing rules for society to follow. In that context, we might view the religions being practiced in the world as not moral because they inhibit our race from maturing because they are only moralistic. They assert authority in a conflicting and contradictory, hypocritical fashion. This retards any progress toward finding truly objective references across cultures and languages. What we know as facts about the universe and our psychology are not reflected in the practices of these religions. For example, the deeper truths of Jesus's words, the profound metaphors, are not what the religion supposedly formed around him expound. That is "immoral".

I am of the belief that near death experience accounts and the reality that all of us face the "Life Review" with The Being of Light that has recorded our lives in total detail is beginning to shift the majority of religious people toward somewhat more ethical behaviour and thought.

But it does seem as though there is a massive backlash against this trend though from invisible forces that fear losing their grip on the seven mountains of influence over this world.

28When He had come to the other side, to the country of the Gergesenes, there met Him two demon-possessed men, coming out of the tombs, exceedingly fierce, so that no one could pass that way. 29And suddenly they cried out, saying, “What have we to do with You, Jesus, You Son of God? Have You come here to torment us before the time?”
30Now a good way off from them there was a herd of many swine feeding. 31So the demons begged Him, saying, “If You cast us out, permit us to go away into the herd of swine.”
32And He said to them, “Go.” So when they had come out, they went into the herd of swine. And suddenly the whole herd of swine ran violently down the steep place into the sea, and perished in the water.
33Then those who kept them fled; and they went away into the city and told everything, including what had happened to the demon-possessed men. 34And behold, the whole city came out to meet Jesus. And when they saw Him, they begged Him to depart from their region.

10. What Is the Best Religion?

I asked God: “What is the best religion on the planet? Which one is right?” And Godhead said, with great love: “I don’t care.” That was incredible grace.

They come and they go, they change. Buddhism has not been here forever, Catholicism has not been here forever, and they are all about to become more enlightened. More light is coming into all systems now. There is going to be a reformation in spirituality that is going to be just as dramatic as the Protestant Reformation. There will be lots of people fighting about it, one religion against the next, believing that only they are right.

Everyone thinks they own God, the religions and philosophies, especially the religions, because they form big organizations around their philosophy. When Godhead said, “I don’t care,” I immediately understood that it is for us to care about. It is important, because we are the caring beings. It matters to us and that is where it is important. What you have is the energy equation in spirituality. Ultimate Godhead does not care if you are Protestant, Buddhist, or whatever. It is all a blooming facet of the whole. I wish that all religions would realize it and let each other be. It is not the end of each religion, but we are talking about the same God. Live and let live. Each has a different view. And it all adds up to the Big Picture; it is all important.

I went over to the other side during my NDE with a lot of fears about toxic waste, nuclear missiles, the population explosion, the rainforest. I came back loving every single problem. I love nuclear waste. I love the mushroom cloud; this is the holiest mandala that we have manifested to date, as an archetype. It, more than any religion or philosophy on earth, brought us together all of a sudden, to a new level of consciousness. Knowing that maybe we can blow up the planet fifty times, or 500 times, we finally realize that maybe we are all here together now. For a period they had to keep setting off more bombs to get it in to us. Then we started saying, “we do not need this any more.” Now we are actally in a safer world than we have ever been in, and it is going to get safer. So I came back from my NDE loving toxic waste, because it brought us together. These things are so big. As Peter Russell might say, these problems are now “soul size.” Do we have soul size answers, YES!

The clearing of the rain forest will slow down, and in fifty years there will be more trees on the planet than in a long time. If you are into ecology, go for it; you are that part of the system that is becoming aware. Go for it with all your might, but do not be depressed. It is part of a larger thing. Earth is in the process of domesticating itself. It is never again going to be as wild a place as it once was. There will be great wild places, reserves where nature thrives. Gardening and reserves will be the thing in the future. Population increase is getting very close to the optimal range of energy to cause a shift in consciousness. That shift in consciousness will change politics, money, energy.

Your question is elusive as morality is elusive. Until you establish what you consider 'moral' and prove it is the law to be observed, then your question is empty and void.

You ask, 'are religions moral'? If you can't prove the morality to judge them by, your question has no meaning.

In other words...are you the judge of what is moral and what is not? Is it 'your' morality we are all to live by?

A rather round-about way of asking for the thread’s operative definition of “moral.”

But it was provided in the OP.

"The word moral refers to principles of right and wrong in behavior. It describes actions that align with standards of goodness, fairness, and honesty, or it refers to the practical life lesson taught by a story." Google.

1. A recent poster said that all religions are the same. As the religions having moment are the Abrahamic three, let's restrict that title to these three. Are they, or any, moral?

Where does each stand on the act of lying???

2.AI Overview
Yes, Judaism permits lying, employing ruses, and using strategic deception when dealing with enemies—particularly in the context of self-defense, warfare, or to save lives. [1, 2, 3]
The Sanctity of Life (Pikuach Nefesh): Protecting human life is the highest imperative in Jewish law (Halakha). Almost all prohibitions, including lying, are suspended if it is necessary to save a person from harm. [1, 2, 3]

3. AI Overview
Christianity does not universally authorize lying to enemies. Traditional Christian ethics often hold truth-telling as a strict moral absolute. However, there is ongoing theological debate, with many interpretations distinguishing between malicious deception and "righteous deception" used to protect life.

4. In the above we find a common denominator where lying is allowed: in support of human life.
If one were to value truth from the liberal media, Islam would be in the same category.

5. But Islam is in a very different category, which, in part, explains why that religion keeps nations in the 7th century.
'According to the just-released survey of Muslims, a majority (51%) agreed that “Muslims in America should have the choice of being governed according to shariah.”

Sharia demands death for any who try to leave Islam.

"The so-called “honor killing” of women and girls in some Muslim nations is one horrifying manifestation of this global phenomenon."

Consider the above when you view the Israel Hamas Iran war.
I don't know if it's my COVID fog, my personal want and tendency to avoid arguments based on "morality", or my guard against religious indoctrinations, but I'm not clear on the question in this OP.

Yet, I feel compelled to see if I can connect the dots.

Could the question being posed be better stated as "which religion most closely adheres to their own professed morality?"

Or is it more the question of which organized religion most conforms with some objective/ universal morality that is so far not sourced in this thread?
