But it really wasn't... less than half a trillion a year in real dollars over 50 years? That's a pittance.

We spend far more money paying out entitlements to middle class white people to keep them from sliding into poverty.

We can also talk about who really benefits from "poverty relief programs". SNAP keeps food prices artificially high to keep farmers in business. Section 8 money ends up going into the pockets of landlords, many of whom only do the bare minimum to make their rental properties liveable.

Yeah, why would black people who live in poor neighborhoods with Jewish landlords think that the Jews were greedy when the heating doesn't work... hmmmmm....

Since we are talking about the imaginary war on poverty, we can talk about how Section 8, which was supposed to help people get out of bad situations, instead ended up being the "Slumlord Enrichment Act". The government stopped managing housing, and just started writing out vouchers to landlords.
