Like ADHD, Autism is a syndrome that, in effect, didn't exist until recent times. Why it is all over the place is a question of significant speculation - certain vaccines are blamed by some.

To an outsider, being "on the spectrum" seems to be little more than an excuse for aberrant behavior.
