Next year Americans can file their taxes on a simpler form and everyone will see the standard deduction nearly double!

Keep dreaming....

Give the critters in Washington a few years and the tax code will be even more convoluted and fucked up than it was before this year, it's the nature of our elected assholes in D.C., they can't help themselves, when they see something that's FUBAR they just have to make MORE FUBAR.

The fact that they managed to enact relatively minor simplification and efficiency to the tax code this time around was an exception not the rule, don't get used to it.

At least this time the GOP didn't claim that the 1040 is now so easy a four year old could fill it out..The requirement for health insurance coverage is still in effect all year long...

Members of the House are currently working on legislation to make major overhauls to the IRS. It will be interesting to see how far that gets before the midterms.

The American must be awakened to the absolute necessity of increasing the GOP majority in the House and Senate.

Yeah, cause the year after a tax overhaul will be so simple !

The "new" tax law is a joke. In 4 years you will be paying way more than now. That is when the law ends.

After 8 years of burdensome regulations and high taxation, Americans are finally benefiting from a strong, growing economy.

Low Energy Bob Corker says tax bill one "of the worst votes i've taken"

Glad you think your crystal ball is so accurate. But I would guess it depends on who leads Congress next year. Piglosi stated her main goal was to get rid of the tax cuts.

Taxes are simple now that you can get a program to do all the work..I used to cover the kitchen table with paperwork to fill out business taxes ..

It is? I have a tax preparer do mine. Even then, I end up with 40 pages of paperwork for taxes. I do all the leg work, and all she has to do is put it on paper.

No it is not. It's in effect for 2017 returns--not 2018. So if you currently don't have insurance this year, there will be no fine next year when you file your 2018 taxes.

Oh yes they be....I have a direct line on that one...Someone that does the paperwork is supposedly married to me..

All you need to do is do bookkeeping every month...Duh..

That is correct according to my tax specialist. I had to pay this year, but next year she said I'm in for a windfall. She told me next year I'm going to look forward to filing federal taxes.
