AP: Trump says he won’t negotiate to end the shutdown

My position is based on facts.

1. Schumer started the shutdown with a filibuster, stopping work in the Senate. Fact.
2. Schumer can stop the shutdown by stopping his filibuster, letting spending bills pass. Also fact.

The only thing stopping the Senate from passing bills funding SNAP, etc. is Chuck U's filibuster, the only thing.
You want facts?

1) tax credits for that have made health care payments for low and middle income families, will expire at the end of the year and Trump's Big Beautiful Bill (which already passed) does not extend them. In addition, the Bill also has plans to cut Medicaid. The Democrats want the tax credits extended for another year and the plans to cut Medicaid reversed.

2) Trump wants the Democrats to agree to stop the government shutdown and has said that he will talk about the extension of the tax credits after they do that. Nonetheless, there is no certainty that he will and even less that he will agree to it. He has not said anything about getting rid of the Medicaid cuts on the BBB.

3) if the Democrats give in to what Trump is asking, they will lose any leverage with which to force Trump to do any of the things that they feel are needs of the poor and middle class. In addition, he has proven himself to be a liar in order to get what he wants. As such, it would be plain stupid to give in, given that Trump has shown that he does not compromise on anything. He is the one that has shown that strength is what he believes in.

These are also FACTS

Looming health insurance spikes for millions are at the heart of the government shutdown

It’s not Dems fault there wasn’t a budget process this year.
It is, however, their fault that the government is shut down. It's even called the Schumer Shutdown. Nice alliteration, huh?

He doesn't want to admit this isn't the time or place to craft a new budget, so will accept anything else to allow for that.
No, he enjoys us spending money we don’t have in other countries, on things like LGBTQ priorities…IOW, he’s a dumbass.

Again, we see Republicans doing nothing to bring about a resolution.

How come you ignored this post, you dishonest piece of trash…

Your party is out of ideas, that's why there's a crack in your party's wall
for continuing with it.
Dems are looking to negotiate, but there's no Republican leadership willing to do that.

Then it would make sense for them to propose those changes in separate bills to be debated. Open the government back up. What have they proposed so far? Only the whole enchilada.

There's an election coming up, and elections have consequences, as we are reminded every time a democrat wins office and starts throwing their weight around. The time to use strength is when you have it. IOW, if the democrats care more about power than feeding hungry people, it will come back to bite them when the Republicans do the same thing to force LESS spending, not more.
None of that negates anything about this being the Schumer Shutdown. He started it and is keeping it going. That's the bottom line. Own it.

The democrats are the minority party. It is on them to make nice with the majority party or see their one advantage disappear, then they would have no leverage at all and would be forced to actually negotiate instead of petulantly demand.

Dems have been asking to talk, but getting nothing from Republican leadership.

Because in March, 2025, the CR would not increase premiums for Obamacare recipients and there would be no Medicaid cuts.
It was in July when everything changed with the big beautiful Bill.
That is on the Democrats. They INTENTIONALLY set that deadline, hoping that the threat of a shutdown during the holidays would get the GOP to fold like a house of cards and give them what they want.

It failed and it has backfired on them, 1000%.

The CR on the table, RIGHT ******* NOW, will NOT increase the premiums of anything. That is already baked into the cake, and any increases won't happen until after December, when the open enrollment ends.

That talking point does not fly.

Passing a spending bill originates in the House -- without the President's involvement-- and is sent to the Senate, where it takes 60 votes to pass. Again, no involvement of the President is needed. They, the Senate and House, are separate entities from the Executive.

Trump gets involved ONLY to sign it into law or veto it.

A Continuing Resolution means an extension of existing law. Get it?
Got it, read below.
Republicans had no add on's to the CR.
The democrats demanded 1.5 trillion added on to the CR.
Right, and now is the time to make necessary changes.
The point is....... The existing law can't just go on forever, sometimes items need to be updated.
(R) appear to want no changes, the (D) do.

Therefore, time to negotiate. Art of the Deal.

trump says he won't negotiate until after they sign the existing CR, problem is.....trump LIES.

Sounds like Trump isn't really much of a leader.
He is very much a leader. Sometimes, leading is allowing the people you work with to do their jobs.

Of course, any leftist would not know what a leader is if it smacked them upside the head.

Trump gets involved ONLY to sign it into law or veto it.
Then why is trump saying "I won't be extorted" by Democrats?
Obviously he thinks he's involved.
