Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez revealed that she is working on a bill to end nonconsensual, sexually explicit deep fakes.
The New York representative said in a conversation with Rolling Stone that she was recently a victim of a deep fake video featuring her likeness and is crafting a legislation that would provide support to the victims of deep fakes. The legislation was introduced on March 8 with bicameral support.
“There are certain images that don’t leave a person, they can’t leave a person,” she told Rolling Stone. “It’s not a question of mental strength or fortitude — this is about neuroscience and our biology.”
The 34-year-old told Rolling Stone that she saw a deepfake video featuring her likeness while scrolling through X and talking to her staffers during a car ride. It left a lasting impression on her, she said.
“There’s a shock to seeing images of yourself that someone could think are real,” she explained.
So….she was “scrolling through social media” and saw deepfake porn?
Come on. That’s not how it works….unless you are into that type of stuff. I just wonder what she was searching for when she found it.
