Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez revealed that she is working on a bill to end nonconsensual, sexually explicit deep fakes.

The New York representative said in a conversation with Rolling Stone that she was recently a victim of a deep fake video featuring her likeness and is crafting a legislation that would provide support to the victims of deep fakes. The legislation was introduced on March 8 with bicameral support.

“There are certain images that don’t leave a person, they can’t leave a person,” she told Rolling Stone. “It’s not a question of mental strength or fortitude — this is about neuroscience and our biology.”

The 34-year-old told Rolling Stone that she saw a deepfake video featuring her likeness while scrolling through X and talking to her staffers during a car ride. It left a lasting impression on her, she said.

“There’s a shock to seeing images of yourself that someone could think are real,” she explained.

So….she was “scrolling through social media” and saw deepfake porn?

Come on. That’s not how it works….unless you are into that type of stuff.
I just wonder what she was searching for when she found it.

Actually that's exactly how it happened to Taylor Swift. People just putting on regular old Twitter, so if you searched her name for any reason, you saw images of her doing the most awful things.

It's really bad

4chan was already doing stuff like this 2-3 years ago.

Not sure how you stop it beyond pulling down the images once Identified as such as soon as possible.

That's disgusting.....Where might one find such images? ;)

Right you're the second guy on this thread to say that.

Porn brain is another "Swirl the drain" part of our society. I'm not a prude, but this is terrible. For men's brains.

Not that it right but as a public figure it would seem to me that she should expect such things to happen from time to time.
It is more than just public figures

Girls in High School are having similar images produced and spread around the school. How would you feel if these images were being distributed of your teenaged daughter?

Lighten up.
It was a joke.

Some of you folks take this place way too serious.

I mean back in the day you would find an occasional raunchy scribble.

But now that "scribble" looks very, very real and can be sent to millions of people in an instant.

Big difference.

Suddenly, OOOOOOH! The moral drama!

This has been going on for a long time, under the heading, "Photo-Shop," right?

I remember many years ago seeing nude pictures of the babe on Seinfeld (can't think of her name right now), then learning later that the pictures had been fabricated.

AI or photo-shop, it's the same phenomenon.

Men are pigs. That will never change.

Whether it's legally actionable is another question. My take is that it is a form of defamation, which is an intentional tort...proof of actual damages not required. And I don't think that AOC's status as a public figure would mitigate the liability (see NYT v Sullivan).

Yep, people scream to be looked at and then when they're looked at, they pitch fits.

Makes zero sense!
