AOC endorses Islamist for mayor of NYC

When the wealthy were fleeing California, Commie Newsom tried to keep making them pay taxes after they leave.

Newsom already proved THIS DOES NOT ******* WORK!

If you over tax “THE RICH”….They will leave.

Failure of this retarded concept is right there in California.

I don't know, California has lost a congressional seat in the last census
and is on tract to lose another 5-6 in the next census, so there may be something
to it.
Because they have an alternative. If another state then takes the lead in the race to the bottom on taxes, some people will just move again. This is why some things need to he federal, like some taxes, some regulations (insurance leaps to mind), etc.

Muslims knocked down the towers.

Now one is going to run NYC.

That is quite the change.

Actually, given the way that we are treating immigrants right now, the Statue of Liberty SHOULD be hiding in shame.
You mean “illegal immigrants”. Normal law abiding immigrants are still welcomed here. Well, not so much by people like you who seem to want to displace them with an undocumented underclass.

The Statue of Liberty was never intended to represent a partisan scheme to disenfranchise American voters.

Can’t answer the question, eh?
It's on his front page of his website.

I posted it in this thread. Colonel Anus posted it in this thread.

Why are you so ******* thick? 😂

It's on this very page, ya dumbass!

Idiot. Those corporations will flee the city. And the rich will move out too.

Unfortunately.

I don't think this is a good thing for the Democrats. It portrays them as too extreme, and this individual has no executive experience.

The Democrats need two things. A show of competence and to be able to appeal to the middle that they've lost.

This guy does neither.
A couple things.

First, MAGAs seriously underestimate AOC's intelligence. They dismiss her as "the bartender". That is a tactical error. She is actually very intelligent. You would see that if you ever watched her in committee hearings.

Second, the middle is sick of both parties. There are about 40 percent registered Independents compared to about 25 percent for each party.

In three elections, Donald Trump never achieved 50 percent of the vote, yet he calls his election a landslide, which only MAGAs are stupid enough to believe and parrot.

The pendulum swings in very small arcs now. Obama wins, then Trump wins, then Biden wins, then Trump wins again.

The Republicans have the slimmest majority in the House ever.

So let's not pretend the GOP has a firm grip on the middle.

As I mentioned earlier, when a system fails the people, the pendulum swings to the opposite side. Every time.

The middle is getting squeezed, and neither party actually gives a shit.

That's how we ended up with 40+ percent identifying as independent.

When the people feel like no one gives a shit about them, that opens the door wide for demagogues like Trump and AOC.

Political independents continue to constitute the largest political bloc in the U.S., with an average of 43% of U.S. adults identifying this way in 2023, tying the record high from 2014. Independent identification has been 40% or higher each year since 2011, except for the 2016 (39%) and 2020 (39%) presidential election years. Equal 27% shares of U.S. adults identify as Republicans and Democrats, with the Democratic figure marking a new low for that party in Gallup’s trend.

I disagree. New Yorkers voted for him, not the Democratic Party. They want an affordable city. The state-run grocery stores will be a huge help. People don't want to be held hostage for their food. They get nickel and dimed daily on city services, especially mass transit. Bill de Blasio made some improvements, but Adams is a disaster, and NYC doesn't want another Republican executive like Bloomberg.

Mamdani will do great. That's what all the panic is about.

I agree that Adams is a disaster. I will even go so far as to say that pinning their centrist hopes on a disgrace like Cuomo was a bad decision.

But as Margaret Thatcher once said, "Socialism only works until you run out of other people's money." Especially on a city scale, where all these businesses just have the option to relocate somewhere else.

I've heard her talk. No, I don't think she's particularly intelligent. The reason why people call her "The Bartender" was before she got elected in a deep blue district, that was her most significant accomplishment in life.

Yeah. Kind of meaningless. I call myself an "Independent", but I've voted straight Democrat since 2012, and before that, Straight Republican. I think there was a very thin window where I was truly persuadable.

In three elections, Donald Trump never achieved 50 percent of the vote, yet he calls his election a landslide, which only MAGAs are stupid enough to believe and parrot.

I agree, they sound pretty silly when they say it.

But I'm old enough to remember when Democrats thought the answer to Reagan was to go further to the left, and they kept losing by bigger margins. They seem to be making that mistake again.

Okay, to go back to the above point, the lowest the Democrat has gone in the last Seven Elections is 48% (Which I believe was Hillary) the lowest the Republican has gone is 45% with McCain. Which means the Republicans can completely wreck the economy, get us into a war on a lie, lose a major city to a disaster, and cap it all off by nominating a guy they really don't like because they couldn't get behind someone more dynamic, and STILL can get 45% of the electorate to show up for them.

So really, the "Persuadeables" are probably only about 8% of the electorate, once you take out that 1-2% who always vote third party to feel special about themselves.
