Of course they won't leave. Billionaires are greedier than you and me are, ironically. I mean, look at the orange rapist billionaire, still scamming.
They won't leave. And if they do, turn their property into low-cost housing.
Because they have an alternative. If another state then takes the lead in the race to the bottom on taxes, some people will just move again. This is why some things need to he federal, like some taxes, some regulations (insurance leaps to mind), etc.I don't know, California has lost a congressional seat in the last census

Where is NY going to get the money to buy rich people’s property?

You mean “illegal immigrants”. Normal law abiding immigrants are still welcomed here. Well, not so much by people like you who seem to want to displace them with an undocumented underclass.Actually, given the way that we are treating immigrants right now, the Statue of Liberty SHOULD be hiding in shame.
As American as Apple Pie, really. The Great Experiment.Muslims knocked down the towers.
Now one is going to run NYC.

Taxes on big corporations and the wealthiest New Yorkers
Zohran has a plan to bring down the cost-of-living through city-owned grocery stores, universal childcare, and other bold proposals, and he knows exactly how to pay for it, too. Zohran’s revenue plan will raise the corporate tax rate to match New Jersey’s 11.5%, bringing in $5 billion. And he will tax the wealthiest 1% of New Yorkers—those earning above $1 million annually—a flat 2% tax (right now city income tax rates are essentially the...
A couple things.Unfortunately.
I don't think this is a good thing for the Democrats. It portrays them as too extreme, and this individual has no executive experience.
The Democrats need two things. A show of competence and to be able to appeal to the middle that they've lost.
This guy does neither.

I disagree. New Yorkers voted for him, not the Democratic Party. They want an affordable city. The state-run grocery stores will be a huge help. People don't want to be held hostage for their food. They get nickel and dimed daily on city services, especially mass transit. Bill de Blasio made some improvements, but Adams is a disaster, and NYC doesn't want another Republican executive like Bloomberg.
Mamdani will do great. That's what all the panic is about.
A couple things.
First, MAGAs seriously underestimate AOC's intelligence. They dismiss her as "the bartender". That is a tactical error. She is actually very intelligent. You would see that if you ever watched her in committee hearings.
Second, the middle is sick of both parties. There are about 40 percent registered Independents compared to about 25 percent for each party.
In three elections, Donald Trump never achieved 50 percent of the vote, yet he calls his election a landslide, which only MAGAs are stupid enough to believe and parrot.
Political independents continue to constitute the largest political bloc in the U.S., with an average of 43% of U.S. adults identifying this way in 2023, tying the record high from 2014. Independent identification has been 40% or higher each year since 2011, except for the 2016 (39%) and 2020 (39%) presidential election years. Equal 27% shares of U.S. adults identify as Republicans and Democrats, with the Democratic figure marking a new low for that party in Gallup’s trend.
