LMAO. You people really are clueless. Look, I was kind of in AOC's position. Graduating, with honors, and interviewing for entry level jobs. Difference, I had a mortgage, was paying my way through school bartending. And yes, I built that business.
In school, Monday through Thursday. Don't really know how I did it. I know I did this crazy thing called 24/8. Up 24 hours, sleep 8. Got me a free day a week. But come Friday morning, waiting tables and bar tending, non stop almost, till closing the bar on Sunday night taking inventory.
The problem, none of these job offers coming in were going to pay me what I was making then. And worse, if I was committed to the whole service gig it would be even more money. I said **** it and went where the money was.
Funny story. When I graduated and committed to the whole restaurant thing full-time one of the managers came up to me. The bar, Tuesdays and Thursdays, like afternoon, just two to six. No one wants the shift, no money. She asked me to take it, it was in between lunch and dinner, and she said she would help build business.
So, she gives me a free mini-buffet. Hot dogs, chips, taquitos, chili con queso, salsa. Sits right there in the bar. I bring in my blues collections and it becomes Blues Tuesday's and Thursday's. Within a couple of months, that place was thumping. A hundred dollars an hour, thirty years ago, was not a problem.
