E. Jerusalem, should be under the authority of the PA,
Why?
Sorry. . . You are right.
It is none of my business how they solve this.
Either it should be under the authority of the PA, or all 6 million Palestinians in Israel should have citizenship.
Shit or get off the pot.
Unfortunately it is our business. We have put ourselves firmly on the side of Israel and are not viewed as honest brokers by the Palestinians or most of the rest of the world. Any peace plans we propose are viewed with suspicion by the Palestinians.
How's that suspicion working out for the Palestinians?
The opposite of suspicion is trust. Who should the Palestinians trust to have their best interests? Other Arab governments? The Israeli government? The US government?
On the one hand, throughout history, the PA has had a few opportunities to solve this, before the Netanyahu government came to power and showed its intention to not respect the sovereignty and integrity of the West Bank.
. . . they blew it, they blew their chance.
On the other? The Arabs in the land of Israel have always known they were out gunned, and have always been overwhelmed economically and technologically by the global financial and corporate interests and players around the globe, whether they be the Jewish or Christian interests in the EU and America. They let their silly religious tomes dictate their way forward instead of
Realpolitik.
IMO? I am sure this was probably a calculated move by the global oligarchs, because the leaders in the Knesset never really wanted a solution. Having the whole situation stay in a state of limbo was good for their goals, we have many quotes from them in the past that indicate this about their goals.
Hell, even America's own Native Americans have gotten a better deal from their government.
Israel should be responsible for this situation, they have all the power. . . if not for the Palestinians. . then their own people. . . if they were a moral people that saw "the other," as human beings, deserving as the same rights as them, should be free to live their lives as they so chose. But we all know, this is not the case. And the Israeli political elites have no intention to ever make this be the reality on the ground.
It would be as simple as telling the PA, hold a vote, "ONE STATE OR TWO STATES," majority wins. If one state? They pass a law, like America's 14th Amendment.
IF it were ONE STATE that wins the referendum, there would have been millions of Pali voters that could have influenced who was on the bench of the Israeli Supreme court. Not that who owns which property in a ONE STATE solution matters much at that point. Once you have one state, you work on tying a nation together, not creating discord. . . like our media does here. . . for some odd reason.
If TWO STATE wins the referendum , then make the appropriate accommodations, and the spark that lit the latest conflagration would have never happened, b/c the jurisdiction would have been in E. Jerusalem. And thus, it would have fallen to a Palestinian Court to decide.
IMO? The ruling elites in Israel LIKE the situation just as it is.
