Some of them were OK, but clearly not quite in the same class with Xcelite, Vulcan, Snap On, etc.

Those Sears Craftsman tools had a lifetime warranty. But after after Sears sold the Craftsman brand to Stanley Black & Decker, I don't know if they'd honor it.

I have no idea. I actually have few Sears tools, I just used the name because it is easily recognizable. I also have very very few Stanley or B&D tools. B&D is total crap. B&D used to have a professional line though that was pretty good.

I actually have a couple of antique (very old) Stanley and Craftsman machinist tools that are actually superb. Bought them off a master machinist.

Time was that originally, most all tools were quality made because that was the only way they knew how to make them, then over time, a few morphed into "economy" brands because the good tool market was too sewn up by others and with plastics and such, they learned how to make tools more cheaply.
