Anyone else notice "oldsters" working at fast food places?

There's an old guy at my McD's who takes the orders. I can't understand him any better than any of the kids.

Order taker: "Hmmmmfffuuloooo, yiiidwoooooo?
Me: "I'll have a McChicken sandwich."
Bwahahaha

Do you live in Canada?

McD's hires some people with disabilities, likely, you have to realize that there might be an impairment.

Kind of like their food is impaired of any nutritional value whatsoever.

Noticing elderly folks working in stores struck me as unusual about a decade ago, or so. Perhaps it was back after the 2008 great recession hit. So now I'm used to it and do find them enjoyable to chat with, unlike some teenager who is just putting in the hours.

It's actually the faulty intercom system. They recently remodeled the store including a new parking lot. You'd think they'd install a new intercom system.

My last visit, I got a coffee and an mcmuffin, and the girl at the window gave me my change and receipt, and I never looked at either one. At the window the girl had 2 bags of food. I said that is not my order. Since I gave her a $50 I didn't get all my change back, either. Manager had to straighten it all out, took forever, felt bad for all the cars lined up waiting, no one likes to wait.

A lot of my contemporaries got gigs at Walmart near me.

To my way of thinking, it looks like a pain in the butt job

I got overcharged once but I didn't check the receipt at the time. I noticed it when I got my monthly credit card statement. It was too late to do anything about it.

Lots of older (not "old") people working at my food store. Used to be mostly young people. Some are handicapped in some way but are able to do the job. Solves the turnover problem as some have been there for many years.

I don't go to fast food places.

15th post
My town has a crew of mentally handicaped adults sweeping the sidewalks and emptying the trash bins on main street every day if weather permits.

They take their break at the gazebo/park and local eateries bring them snacks and drinks.

Makes you smile. :)

The DNC has a crew of mentally handicapped adults running the Democrat party.

LOL....The soup nazis that bought Wendys shut down for a month and remodeled. They also replaced the order board and intercom. Clear as a bell!

I also noticed when passing by at lunchtime they have their help outside taking orders and directing patrons where to park and wait for their orders to be filled.

Why would anyone at 65 work and say they like it? Get a life. If one is bored in retirement one is not right.
