Anyone else grow from scraps?

Hello. I have taken the green top off pineapples, slicing a level at the top of the fruit to rest flat on, and potted it. Just keep it moist for the first several weeks and don't disturb the top by pulling on it to see if you have roots yet. The fruity part sometimes molds some, but you get a spidery type yucca looking plant once it grows out in a year. Not cold hardy though.

I have tried replanting celery from the store but not with great luck.
