Anybody Been To?

After I'm done Basic Training I'm getting stationed in Georgia... I've never been there, so has anybody here? If so, what's it like?

Mostly swamps where the Army has bases...however Georgia can be a real party town!
Just curious what is your MOS going to be since you are going to Georgia...yes...this is a test!

Where in Georgia? I was stationed at Ft. Stewart, GA (Hinesville) and I did basic and AIT at Ft. Benning (Follow Me!)

Have visited with our daughter and son-in-law at Ft. McPherson in Atlanta.
Beautiful army post. Not at all like what most people have in mind for an army base. Keep your fingers crossed that you are lucky enough to be assigned there.

On another note, if you suffer from allergies, Georgia can be hell in the springtime.

Ft. Stewart wasn't TOO bad (better than Ft. Riley was in my book!). Being close to Savannah and the coast made it more bearable. The alligators and mosquitos will drive ya nuts though!

I lived in Fort Rucker, AL. for a lot of my younger years, very hot and humid, I'd imagine it's the same along the latidute there. The people around there should steriotypically be supportive of the military, too.

Not in Georgia while in the Army,however did Federal law enf training at FLETC
there...really a party town...had alot of fun...Did Basic at Ft.Ord,Ca...the old days...sigh..also AIT at Ft.Knox Ky,OCS at Ft.Belvoir,Va...did Europe and S/e Asia...all in a days work for a soldier...LOL

I'm in Georgia...we only have 5 Army posts...if your going to be an MP you'll be at Ft. Gordon for training (that's where it used to be anyway), which is just outside Augusta. Not a bad location.

"Your pistol is to kill" at least that is what they taught me at "basicTraining"...maybe there is a change in modern military tactics...lol

really? Everyone at MEPS called it a gun... whoops... Well I've already enlisted, signed the papers, and swore in... I just can't wait to go to BCT.. I've been waiting for this for 13 years...

do you have some sort of ridiculous ambition to deride everything that I post? Please take your insolence elsewhere and stop assuming... If you read my previous posts before responding with nonsense... You would read that I wrote about when I used to play military with my Barbie dolls... how old was I when I played with barbies? 5... I grew up in a military family... this was normal for me and something that I always wanted to do... If anything should be in question it should be your motives to disparage eberything that I post...

I've read all you have posted...and this is only my third post..hardly deriding everything that you post. How many years of JROTC did you have?

unfortunately only two because of a change in residence... and since two out of three were quite deriding I think that is enough...
