Any Liberals Want to Get Rid of the Filibuster Now?

Thanks for reminding me about the asterisk from the MSM and the Left Wing rags like Salon which awarded a completely made-up asterisk based upon rules inconsistent with the Constitution. The Electoral College is brilliant.
Just another example of the the demafasict assault on the Constitution, the rule of law and our democratic institutions

One thing the Republicans suck at is coming up with ideas. Democrats are great at coming up with these ideas that eventually come back to bite them in the ass and get all bent out of shape when Republicans do Democrat ideas better than the Democrats do. Democrats also came up with the idea of adding more judges to the Supreme Court. So, we should go from 9 justices up to 13. We can start now.
Well, I couldn't blame the GOP if they did do that.

Here is my opinion on the topic from July of this year when DEMs brought it up:

no.

Leave it at 9.

I would think that if there is anything we can all come together on and codify with a constitutional amendment, it would be this.

Add an amendment to the constitution; leave it at 9 for all eternity and stop having this argument.

Yep, the court has given up any pretense of being ethical or remotely sane in some cases (does the recent rulings on Bump stocks and elevating the President to a position of royalty make one American's life better???). Don't blame the blob for using the bat that Bernie and his idiotic followers gave him. Blame Bernie. Democrats have to understand that this is major league baseball they're playing. There was zero reason that HRC should have lost in 2016. Democratic voters, as the saying goes, think they need to "fall in love" with the candidate. Republicans understand that they need to fall in line.

And the previous year--2023

I think 9 is enough. Codify it...but also codify that there has to be 9.

I'm guessing not.
The repubs need to replace mitch mcconnell with a fire breathing conservative to return the filibuster protocol to its original meaning

Make the speaker stand and talk for as long as he can

Then vote on the bill and move on

Mmmm.... yes and no.

I don't think it's in anyone's interest to see someone who is 75 y/o pee on himself standing in the well and having to read the rules of cricket. I mean...what point does that serve except to threaten someone's physical health? I think some people enjoy the spectacle of it.

But I agree with the spirit of what you're saying. Make the filibuster a stone cold everything-stops proposition. So you have to get a cloture motion approved or drop the bill before you can get any movement on anything else. Which, of course, sets up the specter of dueling filibusters. DEM-A wants a 10% cut instead of a 20% cut. So the GOP leadership and the DEM compromise at 15%. Someone from the senatorial equivalent to the freedom caucus then decides they won't support it. So they filibuster and want an 18% cut. Or something along those lines.

I want to see aging libs in the senate wet themselves trying to stop the will of the people

Assuming of course that they fail

Which I think they will
