There are IMHO a lot of Americans who feel that the perpetrators of the violence and destruction we all saw for several months in 2020 in our leftist-controlled big cities were routinely and largely allowed to go free and unpunished, whereas those involved in the Capitol riot are being totally held responsible for what they did. For many of us, a crime is a crime is a crime, wherever it occurs. One might posit that a riot in the Capitol building is more serious and deserves a harsher sentence if found guilty, but those who attacked federal buildings anywhere else should also be prosecuted and punished. But in too many cases that didn't happen, if at all. The feeling is that there is a double standard of justice, one side gets off free and the other gets fucked. Which builds a lot of resentment that is not going to go away anytime soon.
Folks, this is not the way to build any unity.
