Machines can already replace 11% of our workforce, soon it ill be 100%. The age of Capitalism may be over. The age of needing to have a productive purpose in life to exist, which I always lived by will no longer be there and we will need a new way of doing things. Maybe even Socialism or communism the kind though that doesn't need a human slave labor force to make work.

I have always been a Capitalist. I am now disabled and won't be one of the ones who matter in the future. My way of doing things ill be as obsolete as the Model T. I used to be able to name my price just for knowing how to type 85wpm. Now nobody ccares. COBOL Programmer, again nobody anylonger cares. The old must die with their old ways to make room for the new.

How is that even sustainable?
Do you understand how much it would be to send checks to most people in this country? Hundreds of billions. Every month. Inflation will skyrocket. But I guess we can cap the costs of everything right? That certainly wouldnt cause any problems.

Company's save money by not having to pay workers would pass the savings to the Government.

How else will people be able to afford their products.

That is true but they will still be including the cost of the automation in their products to pay for it.

Capitalism,

Capitalism is freedom, liberty. Robots can not replace Liberty

Sure, free money, what could possibly go wrong.

We are a long ways off from 100% automation. Maybe centuries away. I doubt it would ever reach beyond 70%.

AI is simply input-output. There aren't any groundbreaking recent developments. It's just being marketed more. Look at all the gullible people cowering in fear over some silly marketing. Do you buy a car or beer because some billboard told you to?

For beer a billboard and a hot real girl model are more than sufficient reasons for purchase.

Man, we got the ultimate sucker here.
Oh please, lighten up.

AI is over sold for what it can and can't do presently. If they use it for straight analytical tasks it's great, not so much for other things. Most of its efficacy is distorted with unrealistic and politically motivated filters. Until that changes AI is doomed to fail outside of analytical use and porn. Should the porn industry master it's use, it will become a cheap tawdry thing and backburnered for a decade or two.

So, you basically want to pay a bunch of people for not working.

UI is a conversation we absolutely have to have. It may be that we can find other answers, but we need to address it. Now. AI is here now and it's inevitable.

My concern is that we no longer have the ability to even DISCUSS important issues, let alone address them. Blind tribalism is killing us.

That new way is called extinction. The moment that human life no longer has a purpose, the individual becomes nothing, an animated drone with no value to the world.

Discussing important issues and addressing them sounds great until you realize that no one has any answers.
