Nope! Nothing about the woman dying. Just the baby dying.
It said nothing of the sort. First and foremost, you have to understand the actual translation.
The Message Bible
22 "When there's a fight and in the fight a pregnant woman is hit so that she miscarries but is not otherwise hurt, the one responsible has to pay whatever the husband demands in compensation.
New Revised Standard
22 When people who are fighting injure a pregnant woman so that there is a miscarriage, and yet no further harm follows, the one responsible shall be fined what the woman's husband demands, paying as much as the judges determine.
The Bible in Basic English
22 If men, while fighting, do damage to a woman with child, causing the loss of the child, but no other evil comes to her, the man will have to make payment up to the amount fixed by her husband, in agreement with the decision of the judges.
Keep in mind, this is the fucking Bronze Age. No one was going to rush that kid to the NICU.
That is not correct. Hebrews did consider a fetus a person. Like today, unborn person. And, how do you know the parents didn't suffer when they lost an infant child? We can read from modern history where miscarriages and still born children happened with regularity and how the women and men felt. The loss was great.
Um, not really. In fact, when God killed David and Bethsheba's son, David just moved on like it was no big deal.
18 On the seventh day the child died. David’s attendants were afraid to tell him that the child was dead, for they thought, “While the child was still living, he wouldn’t listen to us when we spoke to him. How can we now tell him the child is dead? He may do something desperate.”
19 David noticed that his attendants were whispering among themselves, and he realized the child was dead. “Is the child dead?” he asked.
“Yes,” they replied, “he is dead.”
20 Then David got up from the ground. After he had washed, put on lotions and changed his clothes, he went into the house of the Lord and worshiped. Then he went to his own house, and at his request they served him food, and he ate.
21 His attendants asked him, “Why are you acting this way? While the child was alive, you fasted and wept, but now that the child is dead, you get up and eat!”
22 He answered, “While the child was still alive, I fasted and wept. I thought, ‘Who knows? The Lord may be gracious to me and let the child live.’ 23 But now that he is dead, why should I go on fasting? Can I bring him back again? I will go to him, but he will not return to me.”
24 Then David comforted his wife Bathsheba, and he went to her and made love to her. She gave birth to a son, and they named him Solomon. The Lord loved him; 25 and because the Lord loved him, he sent word through Nathan the prophet to name him Jedidiah.[c]
Ya, that would be one of the requirements back in those days. Jesus even explained how bad adultery is. Next to murder as he put it. So, that would be similar to incest and rape. The Lord doesn't agree with those who say no abortion for any reason. Biblically that would be wrong.
Again, point out a specific verse where Jesus condemns abortion. Thanks.
The miracles of God are only miracles because he is far beyond our intelligence and abilities to control the universe he organized. We simply don't understand them so some people call them magic. I choose the world miracle.
Okay, except miracles aren't really a thing.
