Pet snakes turned loose into the wild of the Canary Islands are devastating the native wildlife. Do we never learn? And then there are the snakes in Florida. Large enough to be a lot of eating, if one likes snake.

Same on Guam. Brownies have eaten some birds to almost extinction.
They dropped a few thousand dead mice laced with some kind of painkiller that has a bad reaction on the snakes. Still, its a crap shoot as to whether the snakes will take a DEAD bait.
Sort of like those nutria brought here in the late 1800's to eat the water lilies and such.....they dig tunnels 6-15' deep and then make offshoot tunnels the same lengths. THEY were one of the causes of the levee failures during Katrina.
