Another food comparison, cheddar cheese brick in Canada, almost $30 (it will be over 30 after taxes).

The OP tried to pass off that pic as a normal brick of cheese and you know it

The average Canadian housewife isn’t routinely buying 3lb bricks of cheese any more than American housewives and you know it

He tried to mislead and you know it
Right wing loons never stop looking for things to be pissed off about.

That works out to about US$6.30 per lb.

For comparison, at the local Safeway you can get a 2 lb (32 oz) brick of cheddar for $9.99, or $5.00 per lb.

Who in the world needs a 1.5kg brick of cheese?! I don't eat that much cheese in a month!

Apparently broke Canadians who are oppressed by their government need huge ass bricks of cheese for some reason

It is an example. I listed many more. We are being intentionally fleeced to protect a small group of oligopolies often near monopolies.

You live in a free country. You may even lick the boots of our oppressors in spirit I dont know, but I do know that you can not appreciate a system like ours unless you lived it from birth.

There is a reason I am here posting when I was a top achiever in university and post-grad in multiple corporations. We are lead by police states whose primary agenda is to expand their budgets and destroy all they can to justify their existence.

The fall out is simple "if you are a legacy company, member of the police or politician you can do as you please, destroy who you want or exploit the sucker fellow Canadian." In fact, they view it as their duty. They take an oath to a king, not a Constitution.

Regardless of how some view it, this is the reality. When men take allegiances to power rather than blind, equal principle, the outcome resonates.

I just hope your FBI do not follow in our footsteps or all of Judeo-Christianity and liberty is in peril.

Let me give you an off topic point for you to greater appreciate how deep this runs. The U.S mens hockey club lived freely in the Olympic Village. They experienced the full experience.

Canada stayed in their hotels. Did not mingle with the world and enjoy the full experience.

When the Soviets went to olympics they would do the same. It was forbidden to mingle with free citizens, to see how other nations interacted and how unguarded they were. Canadians are impulsively cautious and guarded, it is ingrained unconsciously for a reason.

You do realize that the massive size of the brick of cheese completely undercuts the narrative the OP was trying to make, don’t you?

Not when one possesses the minimal intellect required to understand per unit pricing, which you clearly don't, since you posted the price of a 400g piece of cheese in repsonse to the price of a 1,350g piece.

LOL

Well, silly me for assuming the OP was talking about a sane, normal size brick of cheese, since the entire point he tried to make is predicated on that

Unfortunately there are only two Walmart stores I could find in Canada, and neither of them had the 1.35kg block of Armstrong Old-Fort cheddar cheese.

I did an AI search for "armstrong old-fort cheddar cheese 1.35kg Canada price" and it came up with this:

"AI Overview

The 1.35kg block of Armstrong Old-Fort Cheddar Cheese in Canada generally retails between $19.99 and $28.49 CAD. Prices vary by retailer, with recent listings at Save-On-Foods at $28.49, while Falcon Essentials listed it at $19.99 - $27.99.
  • Average Price: Approximately $25–$28 CAD.
  • Wholesale Price: Found for $22.99 at Wholesale Club.
  • Availability: Major Canadian grocers (Save-On-Foods, Instacart).
  • Product Details: 1.35 kg (3 lb) block of aged Canadian cheddar cheese."

Save on Foods has that item marked down from $28.49 to $19.99..

Well the OP also doesn’t come right out and say that it’s a 3 pound block of cheese he’s talking about.

I doubt most people are buying 3 pound blocks of cheese at a time. I don’t need to tell you that when it comes to misinformation, the right wing loons are the world’s leading distributors of BS they try to pass off as legitimate.

For example, I tried to get the guy to explain how the US has been duped and taken advantage of...he hasn’t responded at all; because he can’t show a relevant example.
But many of us do buy the 2 pound block, which is a standard size here in the USA as it is the best buy per ounce, if you like cheese and plan to use a lot before it gets too old.

It would seem you live alone.

Anyone with a spouse and/or children AND who is a savvy shopper would by the 2-3 pound brick since it usually is the better buy at cost per ounce.

Most cheeses, especially hard cheeses, can be frozen with little to no negative effect. One could cut that 3 pound block into thirds, keep and use one in the fridge, put the other two in the freezer and then pull out and thaw as needed.

I swear some of you must still live at home with your parents or dine out for all your meals. Many sure don't sound like they have a grasp on "Home Economics".

It looks like good cheese. The company is out of Oregon but they sell it all around here.

Might have to try some.
Tillamook is a premium brand for above average, but not artisanal cheese. Good flavor, texture, and price compared to others in the market.

I still have some 12 oz blocks of high-priced exotic cheeses I bought from an Amish "dent and bent" store two years ago for $1.00 apiece. We put them in a ziplock bag and threw them in the freezer.

Every once in awhile we'll take one out and use it. They're crumbly but still pretty darned tasty, and come in handy for recipes that use cheese.

Yup!

My youngest son is a "cheesemonger" for an up-scale wholesale suppliers so I've been learning a lot about cheeses.
There can be quite a range in texture, taste, and quality within a single type, such as cheddar.

Sweet dreams are made of cheese
Who am I to dis a brie

Everyone is looking for Stilton
