His first section is poorly worded and should have never of been included. But besides that, I don't think the man sounds like a racist; he sounds like a guy who believes that excessive entitlements lead to heavy dependence on a governing body which is essentially a form of "slavery".

Why? Because if you're being supported off of government entitlements, you're at the mercy of that body and must do whatever they ask. If they say "you must register in this database and let us know your sexual preference or lose your monthly check" you will have no choice but to do it (because you need that check or your family will go hungry or worse).

Being self sufficient is "freedom". You are a slave to no one and can choose to do whatever you like.

I think that's the gist of his comment. I've been around many actual racist people who will claim someone is unintelligent, stupid because of their race and thus will never succeed; this man, essentially is saying the exact opposite.

I don't agree with your assessment of welfare. Most grass roots conservatives would be just as upset about a white person mooching off the system as they would a black person. Not all welfare is bad, either. Sometimes we need a safety net for when we fall; I'm OK with that.

But to have a system where literally generations after generations are surviving their entire lives off a welfare check, despite being able bodied and intelligent - that is a problem. I think right now the system needs an overhaul.

To say that we should find ways to motivate people to empower themselves is not "being an asshole".

First of all, your stats are wrong. The majority of welfare goes to blacks despite blacks being a much smaller % of the total population (source here).

And you’re missing the point. We have a problem if generation after generation are continually depending on a check from the government to get by. That’s not ideal. Welfare should be a safety net to help our most vulnerable individuals get through a squeeze, but when we have able-bodied men and women EXPECTING to receive welfare when they get older we’re not successfully accomplishing our goals. That’s not self-empowerment. We're not generating the right motivation.

And the goal is not “to get rich”, it’s to become self-sufficient.

Also, send us a link that shows a senator/representative talking about cutting welfare only for black people. Does this happen, or is it the case when they talk about cutting welfare are they cutting it for everyone?

Because advocates for the trailer people don't keep asking for tax raises on productive people to pay for said lifestyle.
