Actually just had the 38 year old pump replaced. It is a submersible well head 190ft deep. Water line to house is well below the frost line. Pressure tank and switch is inside the house in the crawl space. Things are designed for the bitterest winters here.
Never have had any problems of freezing with the septic system either.
