Israel 'opens dams' flooding Gaza Strip near Deir al Balah

BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- The Gaza Government's Disaster Response Committee announced late Friday that Israeli authorities had opened up dams just east of the Gaza Strip, flooding numerous residential areas in nearby villages within the coastal territory.

Committee chairman Yasser Shanti said in a press conference that Israeli authorities had opened up dams just to the east of the border with the Gaza Strip earlier in the day.

He warned that residential areas within the Gaza Valley would be flooding within the coming hours.

He said that the move by Israeli authorities would flood areas in Moghraqa and other parts of Deir el-Balah in central Gaza, and he called upon residents of areas near the Gaza Valley to evacuate their homes in preparation for the anticipated flooding.

Cease with this "blockade, occupation, blah blah blah." The Gazan government only have themselves to blame for the shit they are in.
If you won't take responsibility for the suffering caused by the occupation and blockade, I think they should send in the marines and force you too!

The blockade is legal which I proved to you the other day, and which you were unable to refute. The Marines are certainly on Israel's side as shown by the cooperation between the two countries, and in fact they Israeli military and US military are often training and learning from each other. The Gazans hopefully will rise up against their leaders who let them wallow in sewage and shit with no hope. It isn't Israel's fault but Gaza's.

Gaza's poor infrastructure and lack of building material and equipments due to the blockade has led the war battered infrastructure to deteriorate. Press TV's Ashraf Shannon reports from Gaza.

A Palestinian environmentalist says the Israeli regime is engaged in systematically destroying the environment in the Gaza Strip by dumping sewage into the Gaza Valley and its surrounding areas, Press TV reports.

Iyad al-Qatrawi, a member of the Environment Quality Authority based in the occupied West Bank, emphasized in a Press TV interview on Sunday that the Israel opens a sewage storage east of the Gaza Valley “every once in a while and causes environmental disasters.”

Dozens of Palestinian homes in Gaza were flooded by untreated sewage after elements of the Tel Aviv regime opened a storage located to the east of the impoverished territory on Sunday.

“Sewage water is surrounding our homes… It flooded our farms… It has destroyed everything. Rescue teams tried their best to help, but they do not have enough equipment to deal with the huge problem,” said a Palestinian resident in Gaza.

Is there any independent verification of this other than Mann? If so it should be considered a crime against humanity.

Their economy is destroyed because of bad management from a corrupt government.
Wrong.

I swear, Zionists are the most irresponsible humans on the planet!

You can make all the excuses you want on behalf of Islamic terrorists. One terrorist syndicate after another has made a few at the top of the pyramid scheme very rich by appealing to people just like you who reward incompetence.

Blockade is limiting items that can be used for tunneling and bomb making. Fuel shortages is due to the fact Hamas does not want to pay the PA for the fuel. Egypt shut the tunnels so gazans can't steal and smuggle.
Hamas has frequently shut crossing from their side leaving supplies stranded on the Israeli side waiting.
There is fault on both sides, but Gaza/Hamas is far from a victim. Their actions are calculated and sadly it is the people who suffer.

Due to the heavy storm, terror organization 'Hamas' delivers an unusual plea to Israel through the UN, asking for the Israeli military's help dealing with the storm. Israel gives the ok to help provide electricity and sends pumps into Gaza.

So dozens of thousands without electricity and water in Israel, and we help the Palestinians?

Nice.

NOT.

Very nice. Israel demonstrate yet again its superior ethical standing. The state is a civilised democracy, willing to help people in trouble, even if they are on the other side.

That's not the issue.

We cannot afford giving them too much, now.

We lack food, heating, rescue forces. Anything a Palestinian get is something an Israeli child lacks.
If you would just obey the law and end the blockade, they could take care of themselves, without your help.

Oh no they couldn't! The 'palestinians' still live in squalor despite the billions of money given to them by the UN over the decades and the billions being given them now by the EU. All the able 'palestinians' migrated elsewhere many years ago and left behind a useless rabble of potential genocide bombers. Ruled by the tyranical brutal, corrupt and utterly incompetent Hamas.

Still pushing the imaginary 'occupation and blockade' line? Do you believe these lies? Or don't you any have respect for truth?

Baloney. Israel didn't act until rapped on the knuckles by the UN and the only thing they have done at this point is transfer a couple water pumps.

The UN asked OZreal to do whatever it can to help and that means opening up the closed border points and blockaded ports so humaitarian aid can get through, facilitate the transfer of desperately needed fuel to get the electric and sewage plants working again (shut down by the blockade by OZreal) and transfer electricity.

To date the only thing I can find that OZreal has done is talk, put out a couple hundred press releases to israeli media and send over a couple of water pumps.

When OZreal has done all of the above, on their own without asking AND without having to be guilted into by the UN, get back to me.

It seems that Gaza’istan is a bit flood-prone. In part, that’s because the Islamophobes in the PA are heavily taxing fuel that is used to power sewage treatment plants.

Islamic terrorists – they’re so Islamophobic!

Raw Sewage and Anger Flood Gaza’s Streets as Electricity Runs Low

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/11/21/w...zas-streets-as-electricity-runs-low.html?_r=0

The sewage crisis is the most acute of an array of problems since the Islamist Hamas movement that governs Gaza shut down the power plant on Nov. 1. Four months earlier Egypt’s new military-backed government closed the smuggling tunnels that were used to transport around one million liters (about 260,000 gallons) of diesel here each day.

Hamas has refused to import Israeli diesel because of taxes imposed by the Palestinian Authority.

As a result of the weather and a request by representatives of the United Nations to the head of the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT), Major General Eitan Dangot, the Kerem Shalom Border Crossing was opened specially this morning in order to transfer gas for home heating. Additionally, as the day goes on, four water pumps will be transferred to the Gaza Strip due to heavy flooding.
The additional activities at the Kerem Shalom Border Crossing, as well as the transfer of additional water pumps is being made possible by the COGAT, the Ministry of Defense and the company Mekorot, in coordination with UN agencies.
COGAT is in communications with the Palestinian Authority and the international community, updating them on the situation. The IDF emphasizes that Israel will do everything that is necessary to assist the civilian populations in Gaza and in Judea and Samaria, with an emphasis on providing electricity to the power plant in Gaza.
Furthermore, COGAT has opened a shared Israeli-Palestinian situation room with the goal of assisting civilians in distress in Judea and Samaria, with an emphasis on transportation and electricity.<<

Your whining about "desperately needed fuel to get the electric and sewage plants working again..." is an issue that the Islamic terrorists of Hamas need to resolve with the Islamic terrorists at the PA.

I'd suggest a sit-down for those lovely folks with everyone bringing an AK-47 and let them work out their differences like the responsible, mature adults we know they are.

All this article does, outside a couple of water pumps, is tell us what they intend to do.

I'm not saying israsel won't take additional action, who knows. I'm saying when they do it let us know.

Because OZreal has a history of conducting press meetings and photo ops telling everyone what they might do, send out a couple thousand PR releases...and then do nothing.

Just another PR stunt by Israel.

With the amount of flooding in Gaza.

Israel sending 4 water pumps is a joke.

It will be like trying bail out a sinking boat with a tin cup. ...... :doubt:

Plus, gaza HAS NO FUEL to run the pumps anyways because israel has blockaded the border crossings.
