We didn't defeat the Soviets in a global thermonuclear war. We defeated them economically and through not being afraid of them and by not acting rashly.
Sadly, we did acting rashly from time to time and the people we claimed to be "liberating" ended up far, far worse off.
We are not liberating the Iranian people.
